Games on steam continue to crash.

Hello,

I just put together this new system. Everything seems to be fine. I managed to get the memory up to factory standards with no visible problems and everything is within good temperatures the only problem is that games that use steam crash all the time. Specifically Just Cause 2, Metro 2033 and Crysis 2. The only one that has not crashed on me is DC universe online. Games that do not use steam have not crashed on me... yet at least. The crash is the same on all of the games. It goes to the desktop but the game continues to play on the background, in other words I can still hear game sounds but I am viewing the desktop. I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del and open up the task manager in order to get out of the game. On some games its more rare than others. In Just Cause 2 it crashes perhaps in 1-5 minutes of play time. Metro 2033 crashes after 15-30 minutes of play time and Crysis 2 almost never crashes but it has happened.

My system specs are

GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD5-B3

Intel 2600K

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB 1600

2x Zota gtx 580 AMP @850 mhz (factory overclock)

2x western digital caviar black SATA3 1tb.

Corsair AX850

I haven't overclocked the CPU. The only thing I have overclocked is the memory to get it to factory specs of 1600mhz and correct timings.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

PS: Please tell me what benchmarks I could use to test stability on the components. THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING!

All your drivers up to date? Did you get the GPU drives from the website, or were they from the CD? If they were from the CD i'd advise you to un-install them and re-install the ones from the website.

Have you also tried re-installing Steam? Does it crash with any other games (if you have any to test which aren't on Steam)?

try entering the steam directory and deleting "ClientRegistry.blob" then restart steam, I have similar problems (with burnout paradise, JC2, amongst a few others) and deleting that file sorts it out until I restart the PC and its back there again

Are you launching the game through Steam?

If yes try running them from the folder the game is installed in instead.

hi peeps

i have had similar steam-game crashes myself, but i have found it is due to loading savegame files. loading certain gamesaves will crash my games. but others don't.

my remedy for this is to save several (3) times (renaming them differently - so they don't overwrite each other). this way, if one loading process crashes my important save point, i have two other attempts to play with

Yes all of my drivers are up to date.
