Games in specific ratio

Hey guys,

I've just pulled the trigger on the Acer Predator X34, since I got a quite good discount on it from a reseller here in Sweden. Roughly £160 off, so I couldn't ignore it since I really want the monitor.

Now, from what I've heard, not many games has a profile for 21:9 aspect ratio, so I thought maybe a thread regarding this "unusual" aspect might be fun.

I'm not 100% certain, but I do think that Star Wards Battlefront does run in 21:9, do you guys know any other game that does this? Without any major modification or so, but more straight out of the game itself?.

No idea if this is the correct section or anyone will even bother posting, but fair enough... I atleast think it'd be a fun idea to discuss this maybe :)

Regards,
Chrazey

More games are natively supporting 21:9. I've no doubt it will become a standard supported resolution as more people are switching from multiple monitors to single larger ultra-wides. Even Plex will natively support streaming to them.

Most games that aren't currently supported can be either altered with an edited config or displayed on an ultrawide that supports split screen in whatever resolution is best suited. For example you could have a 1440p game on the left 3/4 of the screen and a side window acting like a second monitor on the right quarter of the screen. Your 21:9 becomes split 16:9 + 5:9

Keen to get your feedback on the Acer. It certainly looks good.

Welcome to the X34 club :).

I've had mine for almost almost two weeks now and it is pretty nice; Gsync is lovely and the screen is a lot more vibrant and doesn't suffer from the aggressive anti-glare coating that my old Dell U3011 had. It's my first time above 60Hz in quite a few years.

I've mostly been playing Anno 2205 when I get the time, which supports 3440x1440 natively:

I need to take a more recent screenshot as I've emigrated my population to a larger island :).

There is one caveat though - the curve. It's fine for games but this is not a monitor I'd want to image edit with or use with office applications. Everything is just bent. The "bowtie effect" is also a thing. Curved monitors are hopefully a passing fad when OLED monitors hit the mainstream.

Yes, SW:BF supports 1440x3440 21:9 ratio.

As a good rule of thumb, if you can find lots of gameplay videos in the above resolution on YouTube, you know you're good to go :)
