Hi, is it possible to transfer most save game files (Assassin's creed 3, borderlands 2, sniper elite v2, far cry 3, etc.) by just copying them out of appdata and putting them onto a new drive in the same place? I'm upgrading to ssd soon and i don't want to lose all my progress...

It depends on the game really. If they have cloud syncs or anything then your data should be fine. I think AC3 does have it.

There isn't a direct way to copy games across. If they're on steam you can backup and restore game files. But this will delete your data unless you have cloud sync.

You could try acronis true image and copy the whole HDD? But tbh I'd only see that as a temporary solution until you complete the games. I always fresh install the OS.

I don't think you can with AC3, you couldn't with the previous AC games anyway.
The other games you should be able to though.

If you do a fresh install of your OS on your SSD, just copy over the game folders from your old install to your new one. Also go to C:\users\*user name*\

Check in the "my documents" and "saved games" folders for any folders for your games and copy those over to your fresh install as well. With AC3, back up the Ubisoft game launcher folder which should be in c:\programfiles(x86)\Ubisoft and copy that over also, if the saves can be transferred some of the files will be in there.

I have done it this way quite a few times after a fresh install and never had any problems with any of my saves for my games.

i have done this sorta....
i had the *cough* reloaded *cough* version of BL2 and a similar version of FC3.
purchased them through steam and moved the save files over successfully but you will lose all your achievements and Badass Ranks in BL2
