Game keeps closing help?

My girlfriend plays Sims 3 a lot but her computer keep closing the program with no warning. Simply the screen looks like it minimizes and thats it. I have no idea why this is happening, it happens randomly with no obvious reason, any ideas people?

Running windows 7 64bit Professional, Sims 3 patch 1.6.6

Comp is:

Asus P5N-MX

intel dual core 6600 @ 2.4GHz

2GB XMS ram (2 1gb modules)

Nvidia 9600GT - driver 190.62

We have updated the drivers and what not, now gone back to older more stable ones.

Will it run another 3d game or app ?

yes it will do, all other sims games run fine

The quality kit is saying it does not want to play the stain on PC gaming that is the Sims

Whats the error logging showing?

Done a search for just "sim 3 ctd" and there's loads of pages, many dating back to june where they're hoping for a patch - but I guess there's been many patches since.

Some1 mentioned in one thread about some blahblahX86.dll file error in the Sim3 folder. I wonder if this is a 32bit game on 64bit issue.

Top end pcs are crashing out and there are also lower spec pcs playing it fine. And a mix of both.

Every1 seems to have done the drivers and upd8s things without luck.

Some1 did mention they did a recovery thing on their laptop and it worked after - HAVE ABSOLUTELY no idea why this would work when all the above never.

Another thing, try turning off whatever antivirus might be running and give it a go. Strange idea, but worked for some1.

Ok will look into those things, using Windows Essentials, which is awesome at the moment so hopefully its not that, its better than AVG and even less intrusive
