Just wondering if anyone has brought one of these babies yet and what clocks they can run at?Might be selling me old Galaxy 780's.

I'd say its not worth it. They just pick any cards that can do 490 core (I think it's 490) and that's what most will do.

Hmm mine do 500+ already think you maybe right i must say the xfx look nice but so does the price.See me old pal Mav is back benching retirement didn't last long he's coming over later might ask him about the comeback!

Definatly not worth it.

Mine will only 480 max on stock, memory seems fairly good though, 1350.

Benching and actually stable using them is altogether different.

or do you guys not play games?

Grov - your clocks may be PSU limted?

On the subject of stability - The main reason for having the rig I have is that I can game on anything anytime, any place anywhere on stock settings - the upshot is I can set the pace in benching too ;) Although my priorities have been a bit squiff over the past 3 months or so.

I had retired from benchin but felt it necessary to go back to 2001se and apply some pride to some off topic comments that made me feel I could get more out of my rig in this test.

The plan is to play games but have been successfully coaching the younglings here to benchmarking glory.

Now I feel I may have coached all I can and am close to benching all I can (honest!!) and I look forward to some gaming over the next few weeks.

Grov see - http://www.extremeprometeia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2854Mav explains that PSU may be a bit off. (Shame cos it was on my list of next PSU to try)

In my experience Gainward has always been a good company to go with; but they do cost that bit extra...

But thats just 1 person, and 1 experience.

There proven quality PSU's, by thousands of people. And whats Mav's experience got to do with a video card overclock.

it's most likely temps, it reaches 80C load.

LOL @ Grov

Actually both me and Scorchio both had 520w OCZ's and both had similar experiences, in fact Scorchios blew up for no apparent reason.

Believe me, when it comes to PSU's I know what I am talking about and the 520w aint up to spec for todays kit :p .

600w maybe.

But for the money I'd get me Tagan 580w or used PCP510 SLI - both of which are miles better than the OCZ units (which are in fact badged off another US maker).

If you want to get the best get the 850w daddy of Phil.

Case closed.

This is descending into PSUage... maybe we should get a PSU sub-forum, or a sticky or two? PSUs are holding a few of us back..... :(
