Nick,

As promised, here's the stock run of superpi1m v1.4 with SD FX55,

Using winxp ServPK2 full install, if it was clean it would probaly be 1/2 a second quicker - but no great shakes.

Now that is interesting....... and impressive for you, not so good for me LOL

Is your 4000 SD or Clawhammer?

My RAM timings were set at 2-2-2-6, if that makes any difference???

It was my 4000+ san diego. Memory timings were 2-2-2-5, dual channel. 32 secs but that wasn't in the 1.4 version. I'm not sure what version it was but it didn't have a decimal place. It was after a fresh install of winxp sp2. I didn't get a chance to overclock as my DFI went to heaven. So waiting on a RMA...

In general, RAM timings affect the score, yes. (Cant say for definate for the FX55, coz I dont have one, but on a 3200, yes)

I take it Cache helps too, seeing as stock FX55 is only slightly (ie ~0.25 secs) slower than my 3200+ at 2.7GHz?

In 1m Superpi cache does help, 512k is better than 1024k, something to with pipeline length??

I'll check with RAM set at 2-2-2-5 to see how that effects in an apples for apples test.

download version 1.4 from www.superpi.radeonx.com it's the standard for 1m test as it goes to 1000th of a second timings which is good.

Your score could be just below the 0.5s mark and superpi standard will round down that score to the nearest second.

Goodluck with your RMA, for information BIOS 510 works best -1 for TCCD, -2 for BH5 and -3 for generic.

On a DFI side issue, if I have to reset the CMOS (which I do a lot when tweaking!!) I have to take one stick of ram out for the fooker to post at default settings (2.6v)

Mav you know my cpu has 1mb l2 right (I assume you do and are just replying to K404). Will try the 1.4 version.

Out of interest can you use two yellow slots on your mobo? With the insulation I have round my socket the first orange slot is difficult to get to, so would prefer to use both yellow slots instead.

I don't suppose you could try running your FX with a 12 multi and 200 fsb i.e a 4000+ and see what time you get.

Nick - you assumed right reference the cache comment :)

I have not tried the yellow slots yet, although they should work and I have an extra 2x 512MB of BH5 to burn in to go there :D

I'll have a swap around and let you know sometime over the weekend.

Okay I'll give the superpi v1.4 a go at 12x200 with ram set at 2-2-2-5 and let you know what the scores are.

Cheers

Mav's reliable benchy service LOL

Don't DFI realise that Extreme users of extreme products require extreme service.

These companies could learn a lot from Extreme Prometeia I tell you.

I think the DFI average is 4-6 weeks

Good luck

Cheers
