I know fredyama - we battled for supremacy in 32m superpi.

Look at those clocks with dry ICE man - FX57 3.65Ghz Vs FX 3.58Ghz

I can get 23.5s in 1m superpi

For the extra £200 it buys you less than 100mhz max overclock - of course we have seen a few nuggets that do better than that - it just goes to show that quickest stock CPU is not always the best.

Neither represent value for money but the difference in performance cant really justify the extra price.... can it?

Welcome to the forums dumo.

You make a valid point but my fx57 will edge over 3.6 for benching which may prove Mav's undoing at 3.5ish :p.

Mav Mav Mav!!

Of course it does lol

you know the extra 100mhz helps you

know you need one to stay in the top spot looool

although if you are not an uber clocker then you could just as easy say buy a 3gig venice or winnie and be done

I know mine may not be an uber chip but that is yet to be seen as it is only me testing it an I am poo at it lol mine has given me a 200mhz increase rock solid stable over my old fx55 at the aditional cost of £250 for the upgrade the chip will run 300 to 400mhz higher but not stable on this mobo and it is the same steppings as mcmads by all accounts so??

lol :D

I wnt from 3.25Ghz with clawhammer FX55 to 3.54Ghz with FX55 SD, selling one and buying the other cost me £125, that equals 250Mhz for £125.

£250 for 'possibly' an extra 100Mhz (remember most people are getting 3.5Ghz) seems a bit excessive - of course if I could straight swap my FX55 for a FX57 then yeah I would do it, knowing I would be no worse off!!

Some things for you to remember Gollum:

1) Who got you there? :p

2) You paid a lot more than me for less than 100mhz overclock compared to mine :p

3) Even with all that power, your still a country mile behind my scores which are nearly two weeks old now :p

The best is yet to come from your rig of that I am sure - til then I remain number 1!!

Don't forget aquamark either, me and scorchio both scored well into 127000 - beat that!!

Then and only them will you be at a similar level to us :p

I here The Legend has some new components to play with so you better try harder!!

wow... i should get you over here testing it out on my dfi...

i was actually after one of those sli premium boards...are they any good?

They must be pretty bloody good as I have the same chip on a dfi and can only do 3400 - 3500 stable at higher volts

i might just be down to the particular chip, ie that one is golddust...

nice one mcmad :D

its like when your friend has got a bag of pick and mix.. you hope the one sweet you pick out doesnt have a hair stuck to it or summit..

aye crap analogy but im sure you get the picture..

were they both teh same stepping? im not as fond of the dfis ive owned as i was with my msi neo2

DFI NF4's have a two reputations:

They are really good overclockers

They are increcibly sensitive and go wrong often (within a week of installing)

If you can get past the reliabilty issues then they are great boards.

Reliability wise, I dont think you can go wrong with ASUS and Abit have a similar reputation (except on phase, remember the MAX3?)

MSI are probably the happy medium between all of these (good overclockers and reliable under phase).

Well with any luck over the next few weeks I will have my v2000b and chilly1 installed up and running I hope to see better clocks then but for now as I said rock solid at 3400 oh I havent given my chip 1.7v yet either maybe I need to pump the volts into it lol

I use my PC 24/7 (except when it's as hot as it is today!!)

Would a chilly one be suitable for 24/7 computing?

Fatty mate - cant wait to see ur rig - if u never lived where u did I'd probably come down and help u tune them babies (referring to BIOS and Sfotware tweaks, leave the clever stuf to you) up for max overclock to see what u can really get from them.

I wouldn't leave a chilly1 on over night but I don't see why it would be a problem during the day when you're doing stuff.

If you are going to run a chilly1 24/7 make sure you have plenty of insulation, and dont leave the CPU to idle, leave it at 100% doing folding@home or something to keep the temps up (and tbh it's a bit pointless leaving your computer on overnight without having it do something)
