future custom loop advice

Tripp

too many shrooms
right i am starting this tread to get advice on my venture into water cooling, i wont be starting the loop until next year but i will be buying the parts throughout this year.

so far i have got the rads and res picked out an they are:

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/alphacool-nexxxos-ut60-full-copper-240mm

i will be cooling an 8 core cpu and a high end nvidia gpu (was going to go sli but not sure i how the temps will be). now i have no idea about hosing or fittings, so all advice on that front would be greatly appreciated.

thanks ^_^

Obviously you'll be needed a D5 as you've chosen that res. Just get the cheapest D5 vario that you can find:

I'm guessing you'll be keeping the Arc Midi?
If you could change the case at all, it would make things easier for cooling the second GPU.

Tubing and fittings:
Go with 7/16 tubing with 1/2 barbs.
I use Masterkleer: http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop...D---58-OD-11-16mm-Tubing--Clear-pid-5397.html
But as long as your coolant choice is fine, tubing doesn't matter a great deal.

Then just any 1/2 fittings you like the look of really. You may want to plan things and look for 90/45 degree fittings to make things tidier/easier, but I can't really say if you'll need them or not.

Then Coolant:
I use Mayhems X1, and haven't had any problems whatsoever. Although Tom's had problems recently with Mayhems, so the standard XSPC stuff is fine too. It doesn't make that much difference as long as you flush the rads out properly, and don't use some of the coolants made for show rigs.

Waterblocks:
Doesn't actually make that much difference, so go with what you like the look of. The XSPC Raystorm is one of the favourites as it looks great and performance is marginally better than some of the slightly cheaper alternatives, but you can't really go too wrong with CPU blocks, so whichever you like the look of really.

GPU blocks obviously depend on the card, but it's much the same as the CPU block. Go with what you like the look of.

thanks buddy that's cleared up quite a bit with the fittings for me, an yeah i will be sticking with the fractal arc midi 2 its a great case. i will just have to see what the temps are like when i have the build, if there is room temps wise or not that is.

will a cheap d5 vario have the grunt to give enough flow, without too much noise that is?

Yeah, the pump will be absolutely fine, don't worry.
D5s are quiet, just make sure you mount it properly or it may cause vibrations.
