sooooo.......

some of you might recall i ranted about i drove over a large rock and had to fix my car....

and may recall i 'did' get a quote for '1500' for repair....

BUT!

ah-ha, friday the 13th, the garage has told me they've found 'MORE' damage.

sooooo........the list that needs doing are now:-

engine sump

engine sump guard

gearbox sump(possible new gearbox)

gearbox mountings

dents in exhaust(centre section needed)

thats close to 3000GBP worth of repairs.....

ahh.....the joy......
 
I may be being obvoious here but do you know anyone that knows about cars that can check if the stuff really needs doing. There are alot of swindlers out there.

Also its mine and xms's 5th anniversary of meeting today trust us to have our anniversary on friday the 13th

What make of car is it mate? If it's a Japanese make you could alway go and get yourself a considerably cheaper 'import' motor.

That really sucks though, is the car worth much more than 3k? mite be easyer to get a new one...

but the fact is its a big bill to pay......

at the moment, i had 3 garage to look at the damage, and they all seems to agree its going to be expensive.

the car in question is a BMW 330se, bought from new since 2002.

i've taken the car back to BMW for quotes, and their price a closer to 4k.

so i took it to 2 other place, and they are trying to get me parts as cheap as possible.

its my daily driver, i go all over the place in this car, from tesco run, to 500miles round trip, stuck in traffic jams on M25 and centre london, hence the Auto box.

the best advice from the 2 other garage (not BMW), said since i had it from new, its worth fixing it for a now, and keep it untill it dies, as i would never be able to sell a car that has a accident history like mine.

oh, and worst of all, i've just started a legal battle for my company, thats going to add more stress.....

and a word of warning.

anyone living in Milton Keynes/Bedford area, going from Bedford towards M1 J13 on the A421, a couple miles before J13, theres A LOT of crap on the road, theres a work site on the part of the road where theres always rocks/mud/sand, someone today had the gearbox ripped off on that road, looks like one of those rocks again.....
 
Ahh, BWM. One break pad prob costs about the same as my car...

If the rock is from a work site can't you claim/sue?

Are you at all handy with a spanner? I can dig up some names of a company or two that the garages buy their parts from, then charge you double. They sell over the counter at their warehouses though. I just picked up 4 new break pads for £12 form one.
 
sry to hear that :( altho funerals can often be good aswell, a wake is a great celebration of somebodys life
 
i had the fun of trying to traverse the railways yesterday, on friday

swansea - cardiff - newport - bristol parkway (where i got stuck for 3/4 an hour) - derby - sheffield - doncaster - hull - and so on

was useless

pah, the railway network is in a mess
 
Ham :- im a complete numpty when it comes to cars + spanners, i might be ok at changing wheels, exhaust, air filters, change oil, but when it comes something like gearbox and engine sump.....i have no clue where to start...

and i've just found out its tooooo late to claim any repair fees from anyone now, as its been nearly 2 weeks and i have no photo evidence of the rock....bah...

doomie22 :- thats the main reason why i splashed out on a car instead on going on the train, its sooooo soooooooooooooo useless, i'd rather have numb arse sitting in my car stuck on the M25 for 3hrs than to wait for a train that might want to jump off the track and turn me into mince meat.
 
I got drunk nite before with a friend who had 2 had to pick up another friend @ airport the next day

My fri 13th went like this::

woke @ 7 to get housemates friend

went out to pub for friends bday

got a bday chineese with friend

got food-poising from dodgy chineese spent next 2 days vomiting etc

:D

I F'ing h8 friends
