FPS Help

Spectre

New member
Up till a few weeks ago I was enjoying average FPS of around 50-70 in CS: Source, with graphic settings at medium. Now though I'm lucky if my FPS goes above 30, and most of the time it's at 7-10, with all graphics settings at low. I have the latest nVidia drivers installed.

My system specs are:

Celeron(R) CPU 2.70 GHz

GeForce 6600GT

512Mb Ram

Any ideas? :(

Yeah it does seem to be plummeting in other games too. Like in Doom 3 / Quake 4 to actually okay the game with almost bearable fps i've had to put everything to low, and the resolution to 480 x 640 :(

Source is the worst thought cos it's the only one I play almost every day :D

i think it is prolly your drivvers , roll them back and wait for the stable to come out cause this are still betas

Ok I've done that and I'm still getting crappy FPS :(

I've double checked and I have no spyware or viruses, and don't have dozens of programs installed.

This is really starting to bug me...

DirextX 9.0c. I've also tried opening CS: Source with DirectX 7.0, 7.1, 8.0, and 8.1. Sadly, the only difference is the graphics are shoddy

Try using "driver cleaner pro" in safe mode: after uninstalling all nvidia drivers.

BIOS

Check AGP fast writes is set to disabled.

Set AGP aperture to 128mb

Install latest nvidia drivers.

Give us a shout back when that lots been done :)

Like this (ugly images cause I didn't wanna save them in better format):

Right click on the nvidia icon in your toolbar and click on the following :)

I had a similar problem. I can't remember whether it was my 6600GT or my 5900Ultra. Regardless, the ten latest drivers (meaning the ten latest releases) would perform horribly if the card was overclocked. I couldn't figure out for the life of me what was wrong so I downloaded a very old driver for shits and giggles and it didn't barf when I overclocked it.
