Food dye in water?

Guys,

I'm trying to find a way of dying my water red. Doesnt need to be UV reactive as i have no UV cathodes.

Do you fink food dye would be ok? or is it likely to start growing into something?

I would have thought it would be ok.

Try sticking some in a pot, maybe with a bit of copper and tec-protect and leaving it a day or two?

Edit: Im actualy going to do this with a bit of copper pipe i have lying around...

Food colouring is not atall gooey.

Check back in a day or two:p

Inks will stain, food coloring will seperate actually as well as cling to a magnetic pumps bearing in my experience.

Regardless of what you use, the tubing will stain. Get some Toyota engine coolant (antifreeze), it's red. A lot of people use it.

Personally I run distilled water with a bit of UV green dye from frozencpu.com in it. I checked the pump and tubing and they are still clear. Checked again last weekend, still clear. The dye it seems is inert? Perfect and cheap.

Yup, me likes this idea. I used to use GM Dexcool because it was orange, and it worked great!

Anything with a nice blue? I like anti-freeze personally unless you've got teflon tape in your loop. Which reacts with anti-freeze generally.

Well even if it dy's its still good, only concern ever really is galvanic corrosion (mixing metals in a loop really)

What would be really cool is to have 2 coloured liquids that don't mix inside your loop. I guess they'd have to be some form of oil.

And oil is both hard to pump and more often then not, a bad conductor of heat as compared to distilled water. It would be sweet though.

ye just for pure bling - have red and green oils going around your loop looking like a lava lamp :p

Castor Oil is meant to be good i think.... or vegetable oil or something like that. what about blood?

Then i could truly say i'd put "blood and sweat" into building my rig :p

lol ya human virgin blood!

But if u can`t find a virgin, u could ask a butcher for a bottle full, even tho he`d look strangely at u >.<

I would imagine blood to go brown or black as it decays tho.
