Folding Failure :(

So I've been doing my bit as has the missus it's not a lot but every little bit helps...right?

Well the last 2 projects I've had have both failed I'm folding with the system in my Sig although I had to clock down to 3.8Ghz as 4.01Ghz caused BSODs, now I'm only SMP folding as I still can not get my GPU to work with the V7 client but that's not really my issue at the moment. I've completed 13WUs so far but the last 2 have simply failed they get to around 80 - 90% and just give up it's very disheartening especially as they have been running for like 2 days... I'm not sure why this has started happening or if it's something that just happens if so is there anything I can do to avoid failures?

That's what I thinking Guv, just checked the Log and it states "Server Response ALREADY_GOT_WU" so it could be that someone else has beat me to it on these particular WU folds.

Oh well crack on lad.

If your GPU doesn't fold using the V7 client try GPU Tracker V2.

I sure have my good fellow, and yet still to no avail this card simply will not fold. I can't do anything until Sunday now as I'm away at the missus place but I'm going to give GPU Tracker & Ubuntu a bash when I get back. SMP folding is now OK so long as I stick to any WUs that arn't 0xa4.

EDIT: Well I finally got GPU Tracker V2, setup dead easy set her off folding and after 3 hours..... zip, nada, nil, squat, jack, nothing, absolutely bugger all happening on this GPU I'm actually starting to think that maybe just maybe AMD is not the way to go when folding.

Happy days! Having just installed Client 7.4.4 I'm finally folding at full tilt with this bit of good news also comes a query, are there any settings or flags I can use to avoid GPU folding Core X17 WUs as they will simply never ever complete in the allotted time

AFAIK, no. Are you using any flags at all now? (beta, advanced?) I believe Core 17 was moved awhile back to the normal pool, so not really anything you can do. The client assigns the cores based on the work available. You might be able to post in their official forums to get them to remove your card from the list for that core.

I'm not using any flags at present just pleased that both CPU & GPU are working I'll pop over to the F@H forums see what's what.

If you want to totally avoid the Core 17 WU's you will need to run your GPU on the older V6 client. Core 17 will not run on V6 but Core 15 will.

Thanks for the reply Steve but no for what ever reason the HD6790 will not fold in either V6 or V7, it's only since I updated to this V7.4.4 it has actually worked. I think it's time to start scraping money together and look at a upgrade.

EDIT: Nope no joy from the f@h forums I'm just going to give up with this useless card.
