First Desktop build Ivybridge

Hey there, hoping to build my first desktop over the summer. Its use will be for photo and video editing along with 3d rendering. Along with normal University use. I've got a budget of around £700 and have come up with what i think a fairly solid build. I dont require the desktop for any hardcore gaming as such but i may use it from time to time for the such like.

Case - Cooler Master 430 Elite £40.00

CPU - Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor £259.00

CPU Heatsink - Corsair Cooling A50 £27.00

Memory - Corsair 16GB PC3-12800 1600 MHz (4x4GB) DDR3 £62.00

Graphics Card - NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 - 2 GB - (PALIT) - (PCI-E) £80.00 Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-B75-D3V (Intel B75) £55.00

Sound Card - Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 (PCI) £20.00

Power Supply - 500W Corsair £33.00

Hard Drive #1 - 1 TB SATA-III HDD 7200 RPM 32MB £65.00

Optical Drive #1 - Samsung 24x DVD Re-Writer/Reader /- RW - Black - Lightscribe (SATA) £17.00 Card Reader - Internal Card Reader 50 - in - 1 £12.00

2 X Cooler Master Sickle Fans - One LED, One Black £10.00

I've used a few PSU supply calculators and they've all said around 400-450W so i've budgetted in a 500W psu. The second thing is i'm unsure as too whether the Motherboard selected is right for my build, i believe it only has only 2 ram slots and possible not enough pci-e slots too. The total price of this build is £680.

why are you buying a unlocked processor with a board that doesn't even overclock :/

would help you but I'm not patient
 
eh... :/ Cant help you... your budget is too tight a Intel build should be max 800$ if you want something that'll work for you just go AMD 8core, you wont be disappointed at the end of the day you have a good pc that works for you
 
Also - remember you also need to buy an OS. Unless you use Linux/get the OS for free, you may want to factor this into your price.

are you into overclocking at all or do you just wnat the computer to run as intended?
 
To start with i'm just going to run it as standard but in the future may wish to overclock it, hence the reason for buying a unlocked cpu.

Awesome thanks alot, looks like i was paying over the odds for less performance earlier. Will there be any issues with accessing the four RAM ports with the CPU cooler? Final question if the case has a 120mm fan built in will i need that second case fan? Thanks again

£700 > $800.

I don,t think you will have any issues accessing the RAM. If the case comes with a built in fan you wont need the second one but the SickleFlow fans will perform much better then the stock fan.

Okay cheers SEBAR, if i have an issue accessing the RAM is it possible to use one of the SickleFlow fans instead of the CPU Cooler Fans? or is that cpu suicide?

That is possible. You may see a small difference in temps but it will be okay.

I'd say this is good but defiantly shell out the extra money for 16gb of RAM since you will be doing editing/ 3D rendering 4gb will NOT be enough, and if you plan to do some overclocking although that 500w should be sufficient I would recommend something around 600-700w for headroom
