Firefox massive memory leak

Hey guys

I'm currently running a facebook app game type thing and its using...460mb in RAM....wtf?

Anyway

to single out whether its the app or firefox I was wondering on another full time alternative to firefox? Ya know, I like having adblock on so a bonus if it has a similar thing and just purely fast for browsing and the odd flash/java app.

Does Chrome really invade your privacy as that seems snappy :)

I've just started using Chrome as my default browser, Firefox takes about a minute (at least) to start now for some reason

On my second machine I have moved from my beloved IE6 to Firefox3.5 main reason is I dislike the lastest versions of IE. But it can be a heffa on the memory front.

But hey... 4GB of Ram on a work machine might as well use it. ;)

Firefox never really goes over 100mb for me.

The highest it went was probably 120mb but that was when I was doing the Asus treasure hunt.

Guys

Try Safari its a really nice change, scrolls nicely and feels light.

Still use firefox on ubuntu mind you

I've found facebook screws up chrome too, and often makes it unresponsive for periods of time. That's ok for me though as I don't use FB often enough to care.

The final version 10.0 of Opera came out yesterday, that's definitely worth a try. I've tried it and it's certainly fast, though I have yet to explore all the features.

Same to be honest. I installed Chrome last night. I've got nothing loaded and FF seems to take it's time.

Firefox currently 360mb with 5 tabs open :/ Also it's gotten unresponsive, sometimes needs hard refreshes etc.

I've tried safari but it just doesn't work as well with tabs as firefox. target=new links are opened in new window which is quite a nuisance.

Might just try opera 10.

Am I the only person who doesn't have firefox problems? lol

Mine loads in 5-10 seconds.

Only on Friday did I notice that it took up 460mb of my RAM.

But that was when I had 10 tabs opened.

mines 1-2 secs to open usualy, 3-4 to open when im doing a virus scan

atm after being open for 2-3 days and with 22 tabs atm its using 129,000k =\, the MOST ive seen it use is 230,00k and that was when i was running a browser game.

what addons are you using in firefox?

seems that a lot of addons can cause high memory usage :(

Im using alot atm, a few of them are ment to hog your system up but ive had no problem with them =\

5 - 10 seconds is a bit long for a browser =/

iv gone back to it only because im a sucker for open source stuff

only using adblock here but i think thats a culprit for slowing it down

tbh I at least 3 browsers running at any one time, firefox for me using all my addons, chrome for school stuff and safari or IE for work stuff... it just allows me to organise things more easily. Firefox does get a bit clunky but I will deal with that to have my beloved addons like linkification, noscript, flash stop etc

EDIT, I cannot forget firebug!
