Finally! An AC unit for my room!

Went on last night and dropped $450 large on a nice arse 12,000BTU portable air conditioner for my room to keep it cool as the house AC doesn't cool the upstairs for jack. In the description it says "Ideal for server rooms." w00t! :)

Better than that I had Newegg next day air it to me, lollers... I think they got raped at $80 for shipping an 80lb box to me, but I had to have the biatch before the weekend. It's so hot in my room I have to sleep in the basement at night, bleh!

Let's hope it works good!

Aww man Frag you're so lucky. I wish I could have afforded one when it was frigging boiling over here.

Tell us how it goes...sadly enough I would mind seeing how you get on with it - I may consider it!! :D

I'll let you know how well it works tomorrow evening when I get it plugged in and get all of the exhaust tubes installed through the window... I've gotten mixed reviews on it so far. It's good for up to 400sq feet down to 62*f and one guy in Phoenix, AZ claimed it didnt cool his 200sq ft room with 2 comps in it for shit (but, he IS in the hottest place on planet earth... sooo, who knows). Another guy claims that it cools a room larger than 400sq feet very fast and very chilly which is good. My room is a little over 300sq ft so we'll see how this unit handles that area with a nice little toasty computer crankin' out the heat :)

very nice frag, kemp u really dont need one lmao. when it was baking hot here, i just put a desk fan on and everything was good.

It was really hot Davos...I would have loved a/c as my comp only makes it hotter!! :(

U lucky bastard! Shame u cant rig that shit up to cool the water in your res as well :D

Taa! :D

It's out for delivery as we speak, I'll get it all hooked up after work today :) I thought about ducting it over my radiator intake fans but that would require me to re-arrange my entire room, bed and all. That aint gonna happen!

Pix when it comes in later.

its like a neccesity out here in australia to have an A/C especially on those summer days 40*celcius + :(

Don't get me wrong, we have built-in A/C in the house but it doesnt cover the top floor worth shit, and that's where u need it the most (ie. heat rises, derrr, lol). This is just going to be a cooling aid for my room, it will be so uber nice! The package says that it weighs 83lb's when I track it online, that's one helluva burly A/C unit at 83lbs, w00tage! *wonders how i'm going to get it up the stairs* ;)
