Finalising Project : Wind Chill

Hi, i am almost finished with my AMD/ATI based project, working on antec/arctic air cooling and a NZXT Lexa Blackline Blue case.

Here is my parts list, costing my 540 quidish. That includes a monitor and saitek eclipse keyboard from EBay, as well as all V.A.T and P&P

CPU

CPU Cooler

GPU

RAM

PSU

HDD

DVD Drive

Mobo

Case

Mouse

Now, my budget is £570, so i have a tiny bit below £30 to spend on a final piece of kit, to top off my PC. I have thought about a new mouse, however, i am going with a black/blue theme, and the razer's in these colours are rather costly. I am settling for the bog-standard microsoft one, because i have used em before and love the feel, and i dont mind the little bit of red.

So, a £30 piece of stuff, though as the ebay montior is likely to rise a lil' bit, £20 would be a safer bet, to top off my PC.

Ideas anyone?

sorry, im new to this, but i assume you mean on the mobo, next to the cpu slot. Why is that a problem?

for the gpu why not get a 3850 from Ati? its just about 25 more so just about your limit.

b/c its in the middle of the mobo, its just bad cable management in the end along with a being a little of a pain.

how much of a performance boost am i likely to get from that, bearing in mind that i am not going to run vista.

well i just realised i need a better mobo anyway, my choice doesn;t support ddr2-800 ram. Lets av' a looky...

'm afraid i probably cant now, as i had to upgarde mobo, but, breaking news, getting some babystting money! the horizion expands!

Okey doke, the project is done i hope. I have gone up in the mobo world of things. And i am getting a 15" monitor (dont kill me!) and a ZM-MFC2.

I will be buying in the next week or so, and constructing from the 25th of december onwards!

UPDATE:

Bought 15" Advent Monitor.

Bought NZXT LEXA Blackline Case. (blue lighting)

Pending Delivery on Antec tricool 120mil fans. One blue led, One no leds.

Awaiting Payment from friend, Probably monday.

Put together list of all other components in basket on scan. Ready to buy.

Monitor arriving thurday/friday. Ditto.

Case arriving friday. Ditto, but they will stay in box, as i the computer is a christmas pressie.

Payment from friend not till friday 7th!!! So i will order remaining parts that weekend.

The case HAS ARRIVED. It is a LOVELY piece of kit! I only got it out for a few minutes, as it is for a christmas pressie, but woah..... It is a lot bigger than i anticipated, and excellent looking. I just cant WAIT for christmas time!

The monitor should be here tommorow, and my mate is working tommorow night, to be paid on next friday, and so i will order my parts next weekend!

UPDATE:

The monitor arrived 2 days back, due to me missing deliveries several times and i stopped off at maplin today to grab a power supply for it, credit to the great staff there. I have it working now, and at a total price of £60 for a 15" with speakers, i'm not complaining. However, i may have to do something about the colour

Payment from my friend is FINAL tommorow. If he hasn't got it, i will lynch him. Taken ages....

GFX card arrived from ebuyer! I won't put up any pictures, as it is in its box, which i wont open till christmas. Ditto on saitek keyboard, £20 from maplin. (mind you, thats half price... normal price of £40 is waaaay too much.)

The eclipse original! i like it more than the eclipse 2 in terms of design, tho the colour change on the 2 is sex tbh. I will have some pics of it in late dec/early jan.

Entering the last buying phase! My mate has paid me AT LAST, and i have ordered all outstanding parts. Delivery is on monday, so next update will be then!
