today my phenom II 1090T arrived which only cost me a little over £163 , happy with the price but now i have a few questions lol =

1: is it a 125w cpu ? (HWMonitor says it is a 141.6w)

2: best way to overclock this beast ?

3: max temp for these ?

1. It is rated at 125W, but it might have something to do with the Turbo?

2. The multiplier is the best place to start. Just bump up the multiplier a little and increase the voltage and multiplier until you either don't want to go higher on the voltage or the temps are too high.

3. I generally like to stay below 70 degrees. I have no idea what the max temp is according to AMD, tho. But it's usually not a problem since you're not going to run it at lets say 70 degrees for usually more then a few hours.

I'm not expert, so wait for some better replies.

I have 1090t, thermal threshold is 62*C, but with full speed stock fan at stock settings never goes above 42 under load and idles below 36 so temps are of no worry when you OC with a beefier cooler

so what should i be aiming at with this cpu and at what voltage's ?

Well i'm in the same boat as you, will likely order a D-14 next week and when i get time will go from there. As far as i know, i am not gauraunteeing anything, but i think 1.42 would be a minimum voltage for anything just short of 4Ghz (like 3.8 upwards) however this is my first ever overclock so is all head knowledge atm - and to save blind leading the blind see if TTL can help you.

It's pot luck on the chip. Some stretch past 4.1 with ease. Others barely past the turbo frequency. Hopefuly our chips are from a decent batch. When i've given mine a tweak i'll post how it went.

working on it as i type this , which cooler is the best for the 1090T that faces the rear of the case ? . my akasa venom points towards the top of the case so it drags hot air off of the 6970 , i need a better cooler that is rear facing

You can point the D-14 at every-which way and it's future proof as well as it would cope with pretty much any chip. It's also an absolute bargain once you consider the craftsmanship and price of individual components of it, packaging and service. Get it like now

will order one tomorrow when i get paid

with it running at 3.6ghz on 1.3v i thought i would try it at 3.8ghz at 1.35v , it passed the amd stability test for an hour and the occt cpu test and vantage . on the physics test in 3dmark11 it crashed 3dmark11 , not enough volts or temp as it peaked at 49c so before i try again i will replace the coolit eco alc for either my akasa venom with push pull setup or just get the d-14 ordered tomorrow anyways

That'll probably be the first thing i try (3.6 on all six) when i get mine

got it running @3.8ghz atm with the akasa viper cooler , it peaks at 53c then drops back to 50c when the fan hits 1510rpm (max fan speed is 1900 rpm rated at 83cfm) . dropped it back to stock speeds till my new cooler arrives

hi all,

ok my experience with this chip on an asus m4a89gtd pro/usb and mushkin ridgeback..

both nh-d14 and h70 with 38mm delta @1.3 amps + nmb @0.95 amps fans in push/pull ..

these fans i must say are great but friggin loud ...

i hit 4.1 ghz on core @ 1.39v bios

3ghz nb @ 1.25v bios

left htt @ 2ghz

pushed the ridgebacks to 5-8-5-18t @ 1.8v @1600mhz

tested this with maxxmem2 and the difference was so small figured this was not worth the trouble...

hwmonitor showed temps max at 60-61c on prime95 during ftt runs at 8k

also vcore always spikes .05v higher then bios target, so hwmonitor reported 1.44/1.45 vcore..

anyone know if this was by design by asus or is this load line calibration at work..

this really confused me during my testing and i always based my vcore numbers off of hwmonior..

also i could never get core temps to show on both AOD , core temps, hwmonitor how do you get that to show??

my temps are based on hwmonitor cpu temps reading..

and finally for me the corsair was just as good as the d14 (same max temps) with said fans on both coolers..

it really pissed me off going out to buy the d-14 only to get the same results.. ok room temp may have changed

this is not a scientific test but ....hmmm....

at least with the d-14 there's no chance of leaking + you can use 12 and 14cm fans, or even remove them should you choose to down clock and make your rig silent
