Fans - Yate loons, or Sharkoon Silent eagle 2000?

Hi

I am going to be getting 7 new fans, and was wondering on your opions on the best type.

I am going to be using a Black Ice xtreme radiator, which i understand requires quite a larfe CFM, so i was thing the sahrkoons would be a good option, but i also want my computer to be silent if possible.

I am also going to be insatlling 4 80mm fans in my lian li PC 70,a so was wondering what the best 80mm fans were, or are the lian li ones good enough.

i am going to be running the fans though a fan controller, so would be good to have a rpm readout on them.

Thanks for your help.

Rob

My yates run at 12v, and I can hear them (especially when i go to bed).

If i turn them down to 7v, I can barely hear them, but they are NOT silent! Bear in mind I have 3 on the rad, so that amplifies the noise too!

Having them blowing onto the rad causes turbulence, hence more noise than if they were mounted in a case.

Can't comment on the silent eagles, as I still haven't ordered them in yet, but from the graph you showed me a while back, they will be louder than the yates, both at 12v and 7v, but not really loud.

If you get them before I do, want to PM me and let me know what they are like? I'll do the same if I get mine before yours!

well im planning on ordering them pretty soon, i think im going to go with the silent eagles, but i cant decide whether 1000 or 2000 im thinkng 2000, becuse then i can turn them doen on a fan controller to slower speeds.

If you get the 2000's and think they are too loud, and decide you want some yates, we can do some sort of trade if you like?

I think im going to get the 2000's. I think i am also going to get some for my case but the 80mm version in blue i think. too cool my hard drives.

i've got 4 2000's and they're pretty much silent, 3 on a rad 1 on the front of the case, i can hear my lian li's included 120mm's over them and the psu also.

i haven't changed the voltage so whatever they run at default thats what they're at. :)

4 Sharkoon 120 2000 fans arrived on Thursday, and I've just fitted them.

These were to replace my 4 yate loons, as I wanted better performance out of my system.

3 sharkoons are on an externally mounted fan, and one in the front of my case.

These fans are definately louder than my yate loons!!!! When running the sharkoons at 7v, they are still louder than my yates were at 12v.

These sharkoons at 7v are cooling my rig 1c better than my yates at 12v.

I haven't had a chance to test them for any significant time at 12v yet, but they are significantly louder!

Mine came as well, i dunno if they are any louder becuase i have never had any yate loons, what speed are yours running at?

Mine around 1000rpm are silent, 1500rpm is ok but 2000rpm is loud.

Can you compare temps.

Or do i need to buy some yates?

Rob

If you're happy with the sharkoons there's no need to go for the yates.

The sharkoon silent eagle 2000 120mm fans push more air than the yates do, but are noisier.

A yate at 5v is very quiet indeed, but has significantly less airflow than the sharkoon at 5v

How many rpm's is each at 5v?

Rob

I've got no idea I'm afraid as mine aren't hooked up to a sensor. Mine are/were wired up to a fan controller with 5v min & 12v max settings:(
