Fanless Pasive Heat sinks

Hi,

Please someone give some advice on Fanless Heat sinks.

Are they any good and do they work as good as the Fan ones?

The ones that I am after are thermaltake tower 102.

If I fitted this on a P4 1.7GHz or a P4 2.4 GHz will it overheat?

I would say a lot of the newer sinks would be ok to use with those two as long as you aren't overclocking and have good case airflow. Try a Scythe Infinity/Ninja or Thermalright SI-120 or maybe a Tuniq Tower

I see, my computer is a quite an old one and the only reason why I want to fit one of these solutions is because I want to reduce the noise level on my socket 478 board.

At the moment there is no airflow within the case. The only fan it has is the one on the thermaltake PSU and the CPU fan. But if I change the CPU heat sink then there will only be the PSU fan.

Can anyone recommend a Low noise (<18) CPU cooler for under £10 for socket 478 and socket A?

I had a swiftech sink that was pretty nice and quiet on socket A
