I feel the same about this as I did with Skyrim Special edition, once you've modded the hell out of the Vanilla game any attempt at a remake even with the newest engine just looks the same or slightly worse like a bad photocopy. Almost as bad as trying to tell the difference between this years and last years Porsche.

Skyrim was using a new engine, though. You gotta remember Fallout 3 is now ten years old and it looks 10 years old.
And let's face it, some one was going to do it. I would rather that be the modding community for free than EA for £50.
I tried playing through it last year (FO3) but it just doesn't look believable now like it did when it launched. And that is important with a game like this and why I only recently fell in love with FO4.

Which I am equally/possibly even more excited about. I only played through NV twice which is nothing considering I put about 3000 hours into FO3.
But yeah, when these games start to look terribly dated they're not as good tbh. That is why I gave FO4 a roasting when it came out because the graphics (most notably the distant backdrops) were rubbish. Fuzzy and nasty. Now they've got the hi res pack in and the Nvidia weapons it looks like a new game tbh.
Edit.. I tell you something that did make me smile about that gameplay video I uploaded yesterday.. When he saw a figure in the distance of the tunnel I immediately said "Single Super Mutant..." and I was bang on that is where you see your first Super Mutant in the game
