Fable Legends will be a Windows 10 Store exclusive

Dude have you seen how many Windows 10 users there are?

The vast majority of those new licenses are sold by the truck load in commercial PC and latop (HP, Lenovo etc...) that are largely downgraded to Windows 7 for various corporative reasons. A lot of licences that are still on shelves are also included in this calculation as in "circulation", but not necessarily sold and in use.

Many have also reverted back to windows 7 after drivers nightmare. A lot of people in forums feel like guineas pigs beta testers for M$, which they definitively are. There's a reason why many says, including me, to never to upgrade to a new M$ OS until the first service pack is out...

A lot of people that are not gamer and completely clueless where caught with M$ adware nag to "easily, automatically and freely" upgrade to Windows 10. Users that will never play a game on their machine.

Fable will face disastrous sales because of all that. Windows 10, 32 and 64 bit COMBINED is currently only representing 17.2% of all users on Steam... Windows 7 to 8.1 is 75.35%. If you don't see a problem with that, you're inept is math and statistics. http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

Simple, Go use Linux if you hate MS that much.

/end

I don't hate M$ for the sake of hating them. I hate what they have become and the consequence for all of us.

Windows 10 has been out since the 29th of July, A total of 1 month and 8 days.

Windows 8 has been out since August 1st 2012, A total of 3 years, 1 month and 5 days.

Windows 7 has been out since July 22nd 2009, A total of 6 years, 1 month and 15 days.

So you expect an OS which has been out for a little over 5 weeks to over take those ?

I think someone needs to stop sipping the giggle juice :p

What an absolute crock of sh*t that post was. This isn't YouTube or Facebook dude, take your neopolitical views elsewhere

Who the hell are you to tell me that I don't have the right to my own opinion? How about you comeback with some factual arguments against my position instead of trying to shut me down? Or it is that your position is so weak that it can't sustain an argumentation?

M$ short, middle and long term businesses strategy is obviously oriented toward rented services (Office 365, cloud services etc...) and a closed garden store. "Free" is also not always good as when the product is "free", (like Win10) YOU (and your data) becomes the product. I don't like it. I despise it. I hate it. I'm rejecting it.

Tell us why you love it and accept it. Describe the advantages of the new M$ business model, from a customer stand point. Explain us why it's a good thing that Fable is a Win10 store exclusive.

Go tell that to Fable manager who chooses to limit its sale to a new platform that has only 17% market footprint... Imagine the size of M$ kickback $$$ for them to take such a foolish and suicidal business decision.

No one is telling you that you can't have your own viewpoint but drop the aggression, No need for it, If you want to become political then create a thread for it in the off topic section and stop derailing this one :)

Unless you wok inside of MS and have insider info from Lionhead then all you are doing is guessing what their business decisions are.

Also please stop double posting, If you have new info then simply update your last reply, It's part of the rules.

I'm still trying to figure out what services I apparently rent on a monthly basis other than my internet ^_^

Are you seriousely arguing that M$ is NOT pushing hard to move it's business model toward exclusive renting services, (everything that is cloud based basically), "free" to get product (like Win10) and a closed garden software apps (no more third party manufacturer/publisher directly in competition with other M$ product allowed)?

Are you saying they will, for instance, keep a RETAIL option for their Office product line, or will they soon limit it to be an exclusive monthly renting services thorough the M$ app store? Are you saynig M$ has no intention to do to the same for EVERY software product, including games? How can you be so naive and blind? Where is your smiley, sarcastic face now? :(

I'm not saying anything or arguing with you dude, If you want to keep on needlessly ranting then take it to the off topic section.

What makes you think it's your god-given right to be able to buy Fable Legends for Windows 7? The owner of that product has the right to target any platform they wish to do so.

It's the modern sense of entitlement way of thinking a lot of people have that sadly more and more seem to demonstrate nowadays.

There is no guessing here: Puny, ridiculous and COMMERCIALLY UNSUSTAINABLE 17% market share for ANY AAA titles costing upward 100-150 millions to produce + exclusive restriction = mandatory under the table deal, no matter how hard you intellectuality bend backward trying to square that circle. It's like saying 2 + 2 doesn't not equal 4 FFS... Lionhead administration board might not be the brightest, but they are not completely brain dead stupid either, as you are indirectly implying *IF* indeed there was no deal whatsoever.

UPDATE: At least *ONE* of the reasons LionHead went this route with M$ is because Fable Legend will actually be "FREE" TO PLAY, and obviously will be RIDDLED with micro-transactions because there is no such thing as "free" stuff in life and someone (YOU) ***HAS*** to pay for the multi million development cost! And if it's not now, this WILL spring the micro-transaction trap later! This is the mother of all slippery slope! Give me just *ONE* other justification why they would do that? I just f*chking knew it... SOURCE:

http://www.gamesradar.com/fable-legends-free-play-lol-style-microtransactions/
http://business.financialpost.com/f...is-betting-on-free-to-play-with-fable-legends

Also, when all else fail to censor people and to kick them out, quote the rule book... How predictable of you. You know what? You're starting to annoy the hell out of me by clearly making this very, very, VERY personal. If *YOU* don't have anything to factually contribute, how about you refrain from uselessly relying to my posts? That would save both of us all lot of our precious and limited cognitive time.

QUESTION: Are you an M$ paid shill by any chances? You know how the saying goes: If it looks like a duck and walks/quack/flies/blame and argues in black and white like a paid shill duck...

Beside, if you don't like me or my posts, or if you think I actually did something against the rules, DO NOT TELL ME!!! Go complain to a mod and he will ***BAN*** me if he thinks it's the appropriate course of action.

And if he does, then this forum/website doesn't deserve my attention. I will gladly take my ad-clicking-business elsewhere. And if enough of us are arbitrarily banned like that, this site, along with the likes of you, will go extinct. I know, logic is a b*tch...

Only the future will tell who's right, not you or me. But based on the facts I have presented, I would be very comfortable to bet some real good money on my position. Mark my word: M$ will be a software Gulag "closed-garden-free-to-play-micro-transacation-rented-services-cloud-centric-own-nothing-freedomless-dictatorial-Orwellian" company in only a few years from now. And it all starts TODAY with Xbox one, M$ phones, M$ tablets, and PC running Windows 10. Again, I ***HATE*** that I can not understand why any sane person could argue in favor of that!!!

Until the day I'm banned here, you will have to endure my position and my arguments gracefully.

Nobody can argue against the facts and people may not like the way M$ choose to do business but I don't think that many of us here are just that annoyed, certainly not as much as you seem to be.
It feels that you're forgetting that you have a choice and you don't have to partake in Microsoft's business model.

I NEVER said it's a ***RIGHT**, you are pathetically attempting (and failing) at strawmaning me with this ridicule argument.

What I said, and you NEVER addressed it, is that there is NO TECHNICAL limitation that would justify preventing Fable Legend from being playable on Windows 7. You could have argued Mac VS PC restriction or Linux VS or more appropriately console VS PC as they are TRULY different and distinct platform. Win7 VS Win10, not so much as one is the direct evolution and continuation of the other and are 99.999% compatible. 99.999% software compatibility is NOT a distinct platform, no matter how hard you try to pretend it is. What I'm saying is, this is ARTIFICIAL market segmentation. What I'm saying is artificial market segmentation is wrong. I don't like it. I don't support it. Do you?

If your product is not good enougth to stand on its own, if you must resort to shove your product down people throats by forcing them to adopt a certain OS, (you want to play Fable Legend? Then you MUST upgrade to Win 10 simply because we say so, f*ck your perfectly fine Win7 license you paid for and f*uck you in the process) then it's pure coercion and both LionHead and M$ are accomplice and guilty in this shameful, immoral, but you are right on this, totally legal business practice. It's not because they CAN do something that they SHOULD, as you clearly implied.

Based on those facts, I don't like AT ALL where all this is going. And you??? Tell us, as a customer, what make you like and approve of M$ and LionHead business strategy? Give me numbers, data, facts... anything but your opinion and your stawmaning attacks.

PS: There is no god. (*YOU* bring god into this, not me). Until, that is, you can empirically prove that there is one by giving me the link to the peer reviewed research that support your god hypothesis.

Well I use Windows 10 on all my computers and do have an Xbox account so really it doesn't bother me to much; however, I do dislike micro-transactions, unless done properly like in GW2 (IMO).

In my opinion it's clear that they are targeting Win10 to push DX12 and Xbox Live windows integration, they've also given you a free upgrade for that Windows 7 license you have.

Although, to be honest, I can't quite tell if you're just trolling at this point?

I want to play fable on my PC. It's running Windows 7 with a DX11 video card. There is NO technical reason to justify why I shouldn't be able to play fable on my PC. But M$ unilaterally decided that no, I won't. A 100% pure artificial, marketing segmentation limitation, on the back of all of us, the end users. There is no value-add or upside to this for us.

Windows 7 is years old. What, you actually expect them to cater to people who don't want to move forward with technology?

I mean Jesus H himself, on a bike, Windows 7 doesn't even know what to do with a CPU with more than four cores, yet you want Microsoft to cater and pander to you?

lmao.

I will NEVER upgrade to Win10

Sucks to be you.

As Fable is DX12 only I'm really looking forward to seeing the performance :)

*as Dice causally changes the subject* ;)

I probably won't get it, but it's nice to see MS is at least making a PC game for once in forever. It's good that they are trying to push out their own products instead of waiting for AAA to hop on the DX12 only games. Hopefully Dice can get EA to allow them to make DX12 only titles too. Would help push it since Battlefield is a popular game on PC
