F@H EVGA FTW and overclocking !?

I am starting the thread in here as i think it IS F@H related ,

some of you guys already know what is going on but here goes,

I at the moment only have FERMI cards in this board EVGA P55 FTW,

it has 3x PCI-E slots both the 16 lane slots have a GTX470 in there the 4x slot has a GTX460 in it,

now my problem is, i can't overclock this board anymore ones i put a FERMI card in slot 1 !?

ones i put back my GTX260 i can overclock the devil out of it
blink.gif

And it slowly locks up , i mean i can run the SMP console for a few cycles then it just locks up...

i hope this is something obvious as i am kinda lost already done a CMOS/BIOs update changed GPU's slot wise i know a clean OS doesn't help tried that the first time i encountered this..

I seriously hope someone can help me out as this is a lost of 18000PPD

Hmmm i think i can run the SMP client (overclocked) but not together with the first GPU, ones i start that one up it locks
unsure.gif

maybe i should do a benchmark to see if that will run fine..

EDIT yup without the GPU1 running i can run the SMP overclocked ..

blerk what is so different about a GTX260 vs a GTX470 (FERMI)
blink.gif
yes i know its different but that it stops the overclock ones running F@H...

LOL and my i5 750 only goes further and further overclocking and all is on auto , weird ass crap

Not 100% sure about the PSU as this also happened with only GTX460's ,

I am now running 4000Mhz fine just can't start the GPU1 then it will lock ..

Maybe i'll try it on auto as well as my i5 is almost at 4000Mhz as well.. never thought that would go so far on Auto

maybe its time for rig3 new mobo maybe that one will overclock without any problems...

Going to try some different drivers as i just started up the GPU's only and it lost focus or something and recoverd the drivers?!

but it also locks up with only the GPU's running...

Are the Machine ID's set up correctly? Different ID for each Client?

I hope so as i am using the FAH GPU tracker..

but i am pretty sure those are correct...

Well i am now going to start up the GPU's on a older set of drivers ...

EDIT its not the drivers as it locked up right away...

I'll run the normal SMP client for now as i am getting a bit frustrated again

Bummer i do think it is PSU related
sad.gif

might try to swich the GTX470's over to my i5 rig or just get a GTX260 again ?!

EDIT weird that 3x GTX460 won't work either or maybe it does work can't really remember if i tried it
wub.gif

K going to try that after my diner...

What the hell with 3 GTX460's it BSOD's like a mad man
blink.gif

I am now trying the last option 2x GTX470 and one EVGA GTX460,

but i don't have much hope for it
sad.gif

Great i just tried one GPU in slot one and i have the exact same BS

And now rig2 doesn't want to start up , pfffffffffffff my god what a great day...

I'll leave the thread open as we might be able to help you fix it.

Right, new install. one card at a time. Test and if functional add another card.

Oki doki,

The problem is , ones i put in (doesn´t matter what FERMI card) in slot one it locks up even with a 5Mhz overclock..

So just one single FERMI card in the first slot makes my rig already lock up ?!

i just don´t understand why it doesn´t do this ones there is a GTX260 in that slot
blink.gif

I think all i can do now is trade my GTX460 for a GTX260 again as i just sold the card

This sounds a bit mad, have you looked to see if its a common problem? Might be a w@nky bios problem or it not like different Fermi's in the same board.

Also have you tried different Nvid drivers?

Fresh OS install?

This i have not done yet but IIRC it didn't help the first time i had this problem.

@ Tom i can't find anything related to my problem so i guess its not that common,

Yes i have tried different NvidiA drivers/bios update/cmos to no luck at all
sad.gif

It doesn't even like just one FERMI card in this mobo slot one as it will do the exact same as with 3x FERMI card in it...

Me is going to post this at the EVGA forums i am a member there anyway

Ray, had a similar problem with my i7 920/P6T Deluxe board, it was running fine with a GTX275 and GTX260 on WIN 7 Pro 64. I put 2x 460's in when they first came out and it would BSOD in a short period of time, messed around with it and had no joy so went back to the GTX260/275 cards and all was good for quite a while.

Then for black friday sale Newegg had a great deal in 460's for well under $150 shipped and I bought 2 of them and they are happily running on the P6T/i7 board that would not work before. What I did different was to do a clean install with both of the 460's installed before loading the OS.

Give that a try bud with all the fermis installed first and see if that works for you. G/L

Bummer it is getting worse as it also locks up at default
sad.gif

just not as fast as when it is overclocked..

I'll be back after a clean OS install but my hope is rather small...

Mine did the same thing.....

The clean install with the cards installed first was at full F@H OC of 4G.....

Same bloody thing

and i got one answer on the EVGA forum and it was a great one , if i plugged in the PCI-E connectors , my god thanks

Anyone want's to trade a GTX460 for a GTX260 ??

Wish you were closer, I have a 260 around.

Hmm maybe i am lucky this time as its running now (/knocks on wood) if it keeps running it IS NvidiA driver related,

and then i find it pretty stupid there is no updated driver for this issue yet
blink.gif

As if you put in (google bar) FERMI card locks up computer you see more related problems to this
unsure.gif

from day one it came out ...

All i did was let windows install the NvidiA drivers...
