Extra Pins on X99 sockets

Hi guys,

Still trying to decide which motherboard to get I was looking into the X99 gaming 9 and the x99 Godlike and I noticed the Godlike has 2036 pins whilst the gaming 9 has the standard 2011-3 socket so what I wanted to know is does the extra pin make any difference and also what are they for? I assume the 2011 cpu's have more than 2011 contact pads on the bottom otherwise the extra pins would be pointless.

Thanks

Doesnt make any difference on MSI - they have not utilised them in the bios (last I spoke to them about it)

It does make a massive diffeence on the Asus boards though, they designed it and then MSI & Gigabyte copied.

Thanks Tom saves me from paying the extra for the Godlike if it doesn't make a difference, would you recommend going with an Asus board like the x99 Rog Rampage over an MSI board?

Ain't even going to argue with you there. My wife sent back her tablet seven times? Before they finally fixed it.

But there's just no denying it, they make the finest high end boards on every platform that money can buy.

Yeah I bought a monitor from them which arrived with several dead pixels all over the screen they said that if I wanted it fixed I would have to pay £45 even though I rang them as soon as I set it up so it was only 2 days old.

Buy from OCUK and deal with them, at least you'll have a year of decent support a pixel perfect guarantee from ASUS is invaluable :)
