Ewwww... My computer loafed in its pants

Last night my Intel Matrix RAID setup decided to take a gigantic poo on my chest. Needless to say all data has been lost. I can also safely say that this is the first time I've ever had a RAID setup fail on me. BAD INTEL! :nutkick: I've never had any problems with nVRAID in the past, maybe Intel Matrix is just the poostick? Who knows.

Anywho, I'm not going to worry about fixing it until I get my new motherboard installed which hopefully I will have the time to do tonight.

Cheers!

yeah thankfully i keep all of my important stuff on an external drive. i did lose my brand spankin new resume which took me a lot of time to compose. but, i think im saved there too because my dad has it on his lappy.

hopefully I'll have time tonight to sort out my computer and get it back up and running.

My raid died on me a while back , havent got round to rebuilding yet, I am waiting till I can be bothered cos at the moment I am quite happy just using this HD and setup.

Who knows, I have a few weeks off work in feb, I might get round to doing it then lol.

Was thinking of buying another samsung hdd and doing a raid myself but this topic has put me off.

Atleast you got all your data backed up though Frag :)

At the moment I wouldn't touch RAID with a 10ft barge pole

, just too damn unreliable. In the near future I'm going SATA. And I find a Live Linux CD to be the best HD file recovery utility I've ever used.

Well technically RAID was created FOR reliability. If I had been using anything other than RAID 0 I would have been ok since I'd have a mirror of everything on the drive. RAID 0 is tricky, but the performance is outstanding.

Frag, was that the Abit mobo?

I have used Raid0 on every build for the last couple years and never had a failure. But I dont care if I lose stuff because Reformat is my middle name.

Smart of you to back stuff up..
