Evolution Of A Snail

While the Lian Li PC-777 also known to many as the “snail”. Is a clean, well engineered, out of the ordinary Limited Edition case, To celebrate 20 years of Lian Li. With its unique design, Style and innovation and usual quality one expects from Lian LI.

I plan on turning this all aluminum case into something more special than it already is. Keeping most parts standard and fabucating unique custom parts which blend into the curves and spirals. Together with high quality photos I instead to make something which is already truly fantastic, even more fantastic. Giving the case back something from its past to help it in the future.

I would very much enjoy your comments, good or bad as I take you on this ride of a life time. I intend to keep my photos fairly small for the enjoyment of others and to make it as easy as possible to view the worklog.

Before we get going I’ve got to warn you, there may be days, weeks and in worst case months before I update. With this in mind I hope not to disrupt your Viewing pleasure.

Chapter 1.1 – Stock and more Stock

With this special edition case being a good 5 years old now, it makes sourcing ever much harder. With New not being an option, it left me with no choice, Second hand. Which brings a sense of past into its life.

She’s a little beaten up, but nothing a little bit of love can’t fix. Dust, grim and fingerprints is her old motto with every corner, rivet and groove being filled with it.

She is the glorified and intrigued beast which is “Elle”, the Lian LI Snail.

Chapter 1.2 – Dissemble from the Ground UP

With good times coming to an end and an all new and exciting life starting to peep though the mesh of the side panel. She can smell the fresh smell of aluminium, from the rivets being drilled and removed.

First things first with the Dissembling is the Feet and bottom section. The Thick aluminium panel which forms the base, is truly one of the best features of the case and easiest to remove.

The panel is simply removed by unscrewing the 4 large screws which bolt though the main frame and into the panel.

Once you have removed the bottom section, the feet are the next thing to get the chop. As easily as the panel just by removing the 4 screws, one on each foot.

Hardly to see someone use this case before so your project very interested. Looking fordward to see how it turn in to.

I got to say that's the ugliest case I've ever seen, but you can make it one of the best.

*Cry* Shes not Ugly, Shes a thing of Buty, I hope i can change your mind.

Set yourself a time limit on this one Bentleya??

Is that the one Marcus got and never did anything with?

Looking good so far.... lets get modding.

Any clues as to what you have in mind or what tackle your fitting it out with matey?

Hmmm Time Limits never seem to work, It'll be finished some time, so will Black Zipper.

Nope marcus still has his, and i believe his dad was using it last time i talked with him.

I have a few things in mind, manly changing a few layout things, radiator placement is the things i'm sceptically off.

Chapter 1.3 – Open Plan

It has been a long time since the last update and I feel an apology is in order. I've been overwhelmed at work and with testing of all sorts of cooling goodies she has taken a backseat.

But even with an unhealthy amount of dust, she still smiles though as she sits waiting in the corner of the room. However while she’s been waiting she’s made some new friends. Lian Li’s V351B and XB-01 being the lasted additions to my ever growing love with Lian Li. Hopefully you will see a lot more of them by the end of the year.

Since the last update I have started stripping out the interior ready for the big spring clean. I don't have any photos to document the removal over the rivets and items being dismantled, Section by section. But I’m sure you would prefer a more modest update.

Below is a few photos of her new open plan appearance, and Elle has whispered that she is liking the new look.
