Hi there, Just starting out a new project and I was hoping maybe to get some pointers

Here are the parts I was going to order:

  • EK Wave Intel Skt775 CPU Watercooling Block Silver *need*
  • Alphacool AGB4 Plexi 380 Reservoir *need*
  • AP910 Centrifugal pump 12V *need*
  • Black Ice® GTS240 Blue *got*
  • XSPC G1/4" to 1/2" Barb *need*
  • G1/4" Screw 45 Degrees Angle for 1/2" Tubing *need*
  • XSPC High Quality 1/2" Tubing *got*
Is there anything wrong with these parts?

The only thing they will be cooling atm is an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.4GHz

With the case, I am going to mount the rad face down on the top outside(barbs into case, fans on top) by cutting the case, then going to mount the pump on the plexi that was cut out of the top and mount that in a 5 1/4' bay.

Im also going to be fitting a 20x4 Line LCD Display in front of the pump in that bay.

I was thinking of going all blue inside the case then using a red colour dye in the cooling system.

Pics of case:

Any suggestions on techniques? Thanks! :D :D

G1/4" Screw Angle for 1/2" Tubing *need* ????????? dont know what that is

and put 2 120 fans for the rad

and you can also lap the cpu this set up and lapping should see you around 28-30 idle and 40 at 100% load but it should it will handle 3.8 gig out that cpu and never push past 47 deg :D

On specialtech I see that the DCC only pumps 420Lr/h whereas the one I was going to get was 900 Lr/h will that make any diff on a CPU Loop?

The only thing that confuses me with WC is the ID/OD of tubing LOL! :D

Also what would I need the ball valve for? a filling loop?

I sent off my Core 2 Quad Extreme for lapping and they ruined it so i don't trust it now and i don't have enough to replace it :(

Send me a pic of the lap and maybe i can sort it for you i will even do it for free

Ref t yes thats for your fill and drain at the bottom of your pc like in your pick and the ball stop goes on the end to ope and close it when you want look at my rig you will get the idea

If you want more go out your pump get the laing dc ultra 18w with a xspc top version of the pump. Thats what i use for my whole rig just the one and thats for the cpu gpu nb sb and 2 rads res t piece and it shifts, so get one of these instead.

thnx for the offer but the CPU is totalled the die was sanded right off LOL!

Besides its in the bin now.

With regards to the pump i prob will get the DCC since its a damn size smaller than the one i was going to get!

I hope 'they' are replacing it for you tbh.

They better be replacing that CPU? lol.. :S how did they manage that lol.. I am looking forward to the outcome also :)

By saying he 'I have enough money to replace it' I am guessing that the guy who raped your CPU isn't going to be paying for it? That's terrible -a 6600 will still serve you well though, but that must be little consolation after what you did have.

Could you let us know who or which company did this, to prevent anyone else getting stung in future? For such an expensive component to be destroyed at the hands of another is a right nut-crusher, especially if they won't even replace it.

If you can afford to replace it yourself & ur fine doing so, ur clearly richer & more forgiving than I.

lol im no where close to being rich, I have told my mate that he will be buying me a replacement and he is paying me in installements :D

So i will be getting a new one but better coz I lied (to get back at him) about the cost to get me an even faster one :D ;) :boink:

Only another 2 weeks and i'll have my lovely core 2 quad back :yumyum:

UPDATE:

This is what the layout should look like in theory but it prob not end up like that lmao :D :D

QUESTION: Is pump better at bottom fed by res, or pump at top suck from res? Will it make any difference?

Pumps are designed to Push water, it also makes it a hell of alot easier to fill a loop with the pump below the res.

I would have to say that it would be much better to have the pump located beneath the res, where it can be gravity fed it's supply. These types of pumps are generally designed to push water, not pull, hence being given a total max. head rating.

By placing the pump at the top of the loop it is placed under more load, as it is being made to work for it's supply. Also, there is a small chance of air accumulating at the top of the loop & settling in the pump.

pulling water up will slowly kill a pump and reduce its efficiency. put it on the bottom, just my 2 cents.

UPDATE: Well i've changed my parts list considerably lol! heres the new one:

  • CPU Block: EK Wave Intel Skt775 CPU Watercooling Block - Silver
  • Reservoir: Alphacool AGB4 Plexi 380 Reservoir
  • Pump: Alphacool Laing DDC-1T Pump Ultra with OCLabs Clear UV Blue Plexi
  • Radiator: Black Ice® GTS360 Blue
  • Fittings: 4x EK 1/2" High Flow Barb & 2x G1/4" Screw 45 Degree Angle for 1/2" Tubing
  • Piping: 2x XSPC High Quality 1/2" Tubing
  • Liquid: 2x Red F1
  • Fans: 3x Aerocool Turbine 3000 120mm Blue LED

Judging by the smiley I guess it was a joke regarding the "mate" who broke the original CPU :)

Yeah, was meant for AdamLeyshon & his mate's schoolboy error. My cack attempt at humour, someone just shoot me now please! :flames:
