EVGA Reveal GPU power adapter and HB SLI Bridge

Yep, I saw this earlier on Twitter the GPU power rear adaptor such a good idea IMO.

The HB SLi Bridge is very classy and it's not over the top unlike some other company who will remain nameless.

really really really that the idea of that. too bad it only fits 1080s. my lowly 780s (presently) would love to have one of those hanging off the side of it.

I really like the idea of that power adapter. I want to eventually upgrade my FTZ01 build to run 4K gaming with a custom loop (yes, I'm that crazy). In such small space with both water hoses and power cable being routed around it makes a huge difference if the power plugs are in a good spot. I hope this idea takes off so if I end up going with a GTX 1080 Ti or AMD Vega card I'll get the same options.

haha i wondered when it would show up.

This design has already been done by a modder who created his own in white. He also did it for the 24pin if I remember right. I'll post it here if I ever find it because he does do them very well. Although his are more like sleeve covers rather than connection extenders. Either way, he uses custom made acrylic pieces to train and hide the cables.

I can see it now, GPU sag with adapter flex (so pretty)
Doesn't seem like that plastic is a heavy piece at all for it to cause the GPU to sag, unless you're forcing it by pulling the cables towards the back of the case and not giving it some slack.

They do have a YouTube video on those 1080 SC, FTW ACX 3.0, SLI Bridge and that Adapter.

Sag has nothing to do with the adapter, it is something that effects most high end GPUs anyway. Beefier cards meant more aggressive cooling (heavier cooling) which has a detrimental effect on the tail end of the card introducing the dreaded sag.

The flex will come later from the adapter after a few months of being connected the cables with exert enough tension to cause it to flex as the only thing securing it in place is the PCIe power socket.

The side power adapter

Excellent idea and a good selling feature. Depending on the build, I can see many case modders interested in this adapter. Will come in handy for many mini-ITX cases too.
:o

I think we will see the old ways of rear power connectors return. Only reason for the switch to the side was for clearance space on chassis'. Cards were growing, cases weren't.

So.. these HB SLi bridges.. are they literally just two single/normal bridges.. one on each connector? but like.. soldered to one board for 'ease of use' ?

I.E. Can you get the same performance by using two single ones on two of the SLi connector fingers?
