Evga gtx690

Hi guys,

Does anyone have any idea what happened with the EVGA GTX690 Hydro Copper GPUs?

I'm thinking of water-cooling my GPUs, but would really rather buy them with the water cooling blocks on them already rather than having to take apart a standard GTX690 and risking warranty etc.

Otherwise I am thinking just H100i to cool the CPUs.

What are all our thoughts?

Yes I am outside the UK (I am in Australia) and cant seem to find it in the US or Australia.

Am I likely to need to water cool if I use for of them or not?

I just checked EVGA's website hoping to find a link to an etailer. To my surprise, the US site doesn't even mention the Hydrocopper 690, whereas the EU site does. It would seem as though it's no longer being sold in the US, for whatever reason.

Yeah the Australian link you gave me does not work :/

And thats why I am asking about it because it seems only the UK are getting them.

Josh - Do you think I need to worry about water cooling the cards anyway?

Well its high enough specs to do both really - but wont be running 24/7.

The usage is for CAD/Video Rendering/Gaming/Folding.

In that order really.

As you know I've been asking about a dedicated folding machine in another area of the forum.
 
I think you are wasting your money with a 690 unless you can find an 8gb version (4 per GPU). Nvidia screwed the pooch (again) putting a small amount of vRAM on such high end GPUs and 2 if that. You will run out of vRAM in the future LONG before you utilize both chips fully.
 
I forgot to say (maybe), but ill say it now - I'm getting 4 - one per U3011!

So is the 670 still a better solution? What do we all think?

Remember you can only use up to 4 graphics chip per computer excluding quadro and tesla. Which means only 2 690s per computer. And yes the 670s will still be a better solution. BUT you will have to water cool them at that point and you will have to find a motherboard that will support 4 GPUs which aint cheap. Not to mention you will need a stellar processor.

No motherboard will. It comes down to drivers. The 690 is a GTX card and only supports 4 GPUs (or 2 690s). If you want more than 4 GPUs look into the quadro line. Quadro cards will offer better CAD performance but weaker game performance.
 
Im not sure they had the Kepler Teslas out yet either?



Having to track down K5000 in Australia now. Everyone else seems to have them but us.
