Eve's crowd-designed Spectrum displays will be first to bring HDMI 2.1 to monitors

Well, Eve isn't a company I'd trust my pre-order money to.

In fact this is a Hong Kong based "spawn" of the Finnish parent company, which is in the process of being filed for bankruptcy by Finnish Tax Administration. There hasn't been much noise in English speaking media about them but there's some links if you want to test your luck with Google translate.

Reddit thread about the spotty deliveries of their previous product, a surface competitor:

Ah, you are one of those people.

They've acknowledged their mistakes and have fixed them. You can even ask them about their mistakes and they will tell you on their social media page. They aren't being shady and are not hiding it. That is also why they did not change their brand name to start a new company to get rid of the previously bad reputation. To earn trust. Also why you can preorder with only a small down payment that is fully refundable instead of outright buying the entire product.

And before you go on and say "they can claim they will refund doesn't mean they will" I can tell you they do as I've done it. No questions asked. Refunded within 24 hours.

Yeah I am one of those people who suggests caution when pre-ordering, especially from companies with a bad track record at delivering.

I browsed through their website and forums and there's not a single mention of it, at least an obvious one. Also the official posters haven't posted in a while.

One of those as in the people who only look at the bad instead of anything else and what they have done. Digging up random Chinese articles to prove a point.

Then you didn't even bother to check AT ALL. This article comes from their own forum posted TODAY if you follow the source.

As I said go ask them. They won't deny it. Just go to check their FB page if you are to lazy to ask yourself.

Maybe I shouldn't take this low effort bait but anyhow.

They haven't done much except for the bad, which is taking consumers' money and only delivering some of those tablets.

Way to be dismissive of the country EVE originates from.

Where do they admit their bankruptcy?

Huh, why does that matter? If they answer "Yeah we sometimes take your money without delivering the product", is that fine?

So anyone who disagrees is automatically baiting you? Way to be so "dismissive".

If the company was in bankruptcy they wouldn't be in business. Their suppliers would have cancelled the contract so they wouldn't waste money on a failing company. News flash, they didn't. I'm addition they are using LG panels which are already being used for upcoming shipping products from LG. They are just using other hardware to differentiate themselves and at a lower price point (targeting at least). This is a confidence booster to potential buyers because they are no longer making all the hardware.. instead they are using hardware that's already been invested by a massive company, LG who again also have plans for this panel in shipping products.

Instead of being so ignorant, as I said repeatedly already, go on their FB page and ask about their past. They won't hide anything and they will tell you they are fixing it and offering a refundable flat deposit to help instill trust back into the company so they can deliver products. Or be lazy and don't ask and go ahead and sign through comments. Or don't do that at all and have an outdated overview of the company who's trying to turn things around.

They were engineers first before. They underestimated the logistics to deliver a product. Now they realized this. Really not that hard to think dude. In addition they are still shipping tablets to those who were waiting. They didn't give up.

Don't believe me or them I don't care. Don't pre-order. Not as if all kickstarters are 100% perfect everytime anyway. All I can say is their customer service was great and refunded my purchase quickly no questions asked. They've stuck to their promise as far as I can tell and I give them the benefit of the doubt. I just cannot afford a new monitor due to life being more difficult the past few months and putting money down as a reservation for something I won't receive till end of year isn't a smart decision.
