After quite some time playing about I have hit the 5ghz and think on 1.39v its a pretty sweet overclock. Reckon this is safe for 24/7 ?Overclock1.jpg

Congratulations

- Is this under water? I'd imagine 1.39v would be safe for water on that chip.

believe it or not that on air using the Akasa Venom Voodoo. I have backed it down to 4.8ghz because it only needs 1.35v and under prime95 temps hit 59 degrees so probably better of.

4.8GHz is still a really nice overclock and I'd agree 1.35v would be more comfortable to me for 24.7 use on air.

Nice job. Hows the Cinebench scores?

Well I have run it and not sure about the scores maybe someone else can tell me if they are good bad or ugly thanks.

OpenGL = 89.41 fps

CPU = 7.61 pts

That score is about right for that processor. There was someone who posted a 2500K score at 5GHz a few days ago and that scored about the same.

I get about 12.13 pts on the CPU score with my 3930K at 4.25GHz but it has two extra cores and 8 extra threads so your score seems accurate to me.

Super thanks a million those scores where on the 4.8ghz clock so happy days . Thats a nice cpu you have I was tempted to get a 3820 but dont think it would be much better than I have . Probably have to sell a kidney or summit and get the same as you lol

Put a few pounds away each week and before you know it you'll have enough for an Ivy Bridge upgrade that will far surpass what I have right now.

Yeah my board is quite a good one (asrock z68 fatality pro) so waiting on the ivybridge myself, fingers crossed they aint priced too high

Congratulations on the victourious achievement temps me to over clock my llano to the balls with my akasa venom cooler.

The Ivy bridge Mobos are out now but i guess we still have to wait for the cpus, btw great overclock I wish i could push my 1090t that far

Right thats it ive seen loads of these "I got 5ghz on my I5" threads. I WILL GET THAT OTHER 200 MHZ if it kills me or the chip lol

It seems like every one else has had alot of luck with their chip but for me to get my 2500k stable on 4.5 Ghz it takes 1.38v is that ok or should i drop the voltage and settle for a slightly lower clock ?

also im using the noctua nh-d14

1.38 is okay, but my system runs fine at 1.36 and 4.6ghz. keep dropping the volts until it is no longer stable then put the volts at the last stable settings.
