Enemy Territory: Quake Wars -- Faster On Linux Than Vista (with ATi 8.42 FGLRX)

I'm not that surprised

I almost always used linux for quake3 over windows as my timedemo benchmarks were 35% higher in linux in comparison to windows :) (nvidia)

From what I hear, ET:QW isn't really worth getting tho :(

I guess it shows how much better the ATI drivers for linux are getting tho :)

It would be interesting to see that comparison with an nvidia card

how does 3dmark do on ur mac frag? or on linux?

My MBP actually benched really darn well. I haven't done anything like that on this one, probably won't, not expecting anything out of the GMA950 she's packin inside.

ET: QuakeWars isnt that bad if you play in a clan. But to solo it or join a server with unknowns sucks... its a great lanparty game :)

Been running linux for gaming for a while, Run EvE, BF2 and BF2142 under it, its all good :) Only Linux game i have is UT2004

Supprizes me that this level of efficiency is being displayed with an Ati driverset. Only out of ignorance really.

What slightly disturbs me is that if the Vista installation was either stripped down or non essential services switched off, un-bloated basically, would the mere 9/10/12 fps difference still exist ?

Then could u do a similar thing with both OSes ?

Great performance from the Linux camp tho. It`s only gonna be a matter of time, and a game dev with 1 title that shakes the gaming world only written in Linux, to push peoples over the edge. It`s not like u especially need to buy new kit to install it.
