Elite Dangerous developer Frontier is focusing on SteamVR/ HTC Vive over the Oculus Rift as the Rift SDK has been difficult to use with the game.

Yet another reason why it will be at least two years before all of this stuff settles and we finally see something almost unified.

The last thing I want to see from VR is another AMD vs Nvidia because it just hurts us, the consumers.

It's nothing serious ALX. It's just the oculus having some issues with FD and the inclusion of the SDK. It will probably be fixed within a couple months. At worst it just means Oculus won't be supported for a couple months after the other VR stuff.

Depending on how things and prices go I might get the Vive or Oculus.

On a side note I hope the Horizons expac goes on sale eventually, Would love to get it :)

From what I've read it's because there were two types of rendering; one that worked on ED and one that didn't. You can guess which one got dropped from the latest SDK.

It's a good thing for me because it removes any temptation to pre-order.

Dice you get 25%off on Steam if you already have ED. Still it only takes it down to $45 so up to you whether it's worth it or not.

I'll have to watch more videos before I fork out 30 notes, The base game so far has seen me constantly hyperspacing around the galaxy just doing delivery jobs which loses it's fun factor after a few hours.

The grind can get a bit repetitive. Mix trading up with long range smuggling, RES farming for bounties and occasional missions.

Horizons for me does not have enough content yet, I mean there are only so many times you can land on a airless planet and watch people land near you.

To be honest when they introduce some of the stuff they have planned for Horizons then it may get better but until then, I just think it's lacking to much.

As for the VR, I will eventually get one but I will probably get the one that has the support of the games I play and if that means I cannot use, it in ED then that is fine but I hope they all get supported in all the games that will support VR because otherwise to me it will just, be the whole Gsync vs Freesync.

Horizons doesn't change that it just gives you more places to go too, though doing Robigo runs are easy if you get a few planet deliveries no security, but there isn't really anything major to do on planets besides find a few ship wrecks, barnacles and a few different missions
