EK Announce their Predator Series AIO Water cooler

If the performance numbers blow everything else out of the water when this is released, I'm pretty sure it will sell quite well regardless of how ugly looking it is.

It's an expandable loop so they would have to give you an option to fill it :)

but they dont..
they will sell the expandable stuff with liquid in it. (you disconnect the quick umm disconnects. and then hook up the Gpu block which is already full of liquid.)
You could however get a res with those quick release things. and use that to fill it.
I think the smaller version allows filling though, which is a bit confusing to me.
But i guess with the pump rad combo going on it may have been difficult to add a res to the rad too?
Not convinced really.

One thing that could increase sales is if they guarantee to replace any hardware that may get fried if it leaks.
that would probably entice a few new to water cooling people in to the loop (see what i did there?)

I have a feeling these will go the same way the Swiftech units went, Good but only like 10 will be made and you'll have to import them from the other side of the planet ^_^

You may have a point, the Swiftech units (as good as they are) probably priced themselves out of a lot of mainstream machines as they're a good £40-£50 more than your H100i's for example.

On the article, it states $199 for the 240mm Predator, that to me sounds around £160, ouch, plus that AFAIK, well recall is for the variant which won't allow any addition of blocks (GPU), thats only for the 360mm which is $239.

Don't like the disconnect they used on the 360mm, they could have used one more in line with the 4 other fittings used. But they've a reason for that I guess...

I think if you were looking at custom cooling, you could probably get yourself a decent set of watercooling parts with that money, plus you would have lot more choice on the GPU side of things if you were to watercool that.

Well thats how I'd look at it.

They do look good though.

Do also wonder what the warranty on these units will be like?

If it performs like it looks like it will, at this price, this moves Swiftech into the "fanboys only" category.

GAME CHANGER.

I was looking at the Swiftech originally, and their pricing was way too high for that feeble pump unit they use, and that res that just hangs down from the rad was just a no-go.

The stated prices for the EK are in line with the Swiftech line though, and by all appearance, will vastly outperform the Swiftech.

I'm with you on the pricing for the 240 though. I wouldn't be able to justify the 240 without the QDC. Still, looking at the parts used, it's not way out of line with reality.

They do need to change the color of the QDC too. It sticks out like a broken toe.

I still think its WAY too over priced - even though the ddc pump is good. It wont be over the moon better than most of the AIO´s out there as they are more or less the same.

I still think that if you want a Expandable *AIO* and there is need for something smaller or your to green to push full custom loop then I would go for:

Alphacool Eisberg (Solo) - Low Noise Edition 2400rpm *€ 39,64 *

Alphacool NexXxoS ST30 Full Copper 240mm *€ 49,82 *

EK-ACF Fitting 13/19mm *€5,95* x4 = *€ 23,80*

or

EK-13MM High Flow Fitting G1/4 *€2,50* x4 = *€ 10*

+ some tubing.

Voilà, a good expandable AIO.

Isn't 350-400 more accurate :p Just kidding. Might as well be going custom for the amount you would be forking out for these kits.

Yep going full EK - $727 gets me a D5 res/pump combo, a 240x60mm radiator, 2 full cover water blocks for the Strix 980s and a CPU waterblock. I'm sure I could do it cheaper I just picked EK for the wish list to price it.
Still have to add tubing and connectors etc

An extra $300 over the Predator AIO to go full custom doesn't seem so bad.

Still I guess it's not a bad place to start if you don't mind the aesthetic.

If I remember correctly the MX block should be upgradable to the EVO too, so that's quite nice.

Still, I wonder what kind of loop the pump can handle.

When you price like for like - MX block, DDC pump it's not too bad.

Actually I think I missed the whole point of expandable AIO's. Where I can see this being beneficial is in cases like my own where my H100 is getting to the point I'd like to upgrade to a 100 or 110 GTX or the like.

Hmmm But what to do with the old one? Could get a GPU bracket and make a hybrid Frankenstein monster - no good for SLI either.

Or if you're swapping something like this Predator out in two - three years time then just add a slick GPU full cover block or two and away you go. Assuming you can support 2 x 240 radiators in your case. Has potential at least.

I have been doing some thinking, this AIO cooler might be a good one for someone like me who doesn't have the skill to do a full custom water cool but still would want to water cool a GPU but kinda wants the look of a full custom kit.

I'm thinking this my be my next AIO cooler ^_^

Custom doesn't require much if any Skill. Give it a shot :D don't pay for this overpriced nonsense. Think of it as Lego.

I think i could do the simple stuff putting the CPU block in stuff like that it's more to do with the tubing & filling cause knowing my luck i would screw it up somewhere that is why for me i like AIO over custom.
