Dying PSU? TX650M

Hello.

As the title suggests I'm curios as to whether my PSU is dying.

This last week I've been smelling a stronger and stronger 'hot circuit' smell. (Although I've always smelt a faint hot smell)

As of today I was behind my computer whiles it was off and noticed a relatively loud buzzing and whining. When I switched the PSU off via the switch on the unit, the noises got higher and higher pitched until the sounds stopped.

Stability wise I've had no troubles except one odd occasion where my PC wouldn't shut down, just hung on a black screen.

One last note the fan on the PSU unit has always concerned me cause it madea generator like sound, should I RMA? the unit is under a year old.

Thanks.

I would, theres is probably nothing wrong with it. The burning smell can be dust, the noise is coil whine, again the fan problem could also be caused by dust. Is your pc dusty or do you have any pets whom could of got their hair sucked in the fan? My last psu had all those problems and it was just because of dust and hair. I keep my new one clean and it doesnt make any noise at all. But rma it to be sure. :)

If it doesn't sound healthy, RMA it. As dalewakelin said, might just be dust causing it but better safe than sorry imo

There is dust present but by any means a minimal amount as I'm a bit of a dust freak anyway. I,all get onto Corsair support just to be safe then, thanks for the replies.

This does not sound safe, I would RMA it straight away if I were you Coxey. The psu is only under a year old
