Hi, hope everyone is well. Just wondering does anyone know if there is a difference between double layer and dual layer drives? Also what performance gain does a 8mb buffer have over a 2mb buffer? I'm after a DVDrw/CDrw drive that is fast and quiet and also a cd/dvdrom drive - any sugestions?

Is the plextor 12x 8mb a good choice for a cdrw/dvdrw drive?

Cheers, Nick.

Duel layer as far as I know will write to duel layer disks not sure if they are available I think they would be by now as for the buffer I think the bigger buffer means you will have less chance of making coasters I have a pioneer 108 duel layer its fast and quiet but it will burn only as fast as the speed of dvd you buy

Not realy necesary till duel layer dvd's become cheap but on the other hand only cost me like £50 for my dvd burner oem so??

its just that I can't seem to find any 8mb dual layer burners, they are all 2mb. yet i can find 8mb 12x burners.

I have just brought and Emprex DVD +- R DL dvd writer which seems to work OK, but I have not found any DL disk. I have 1 RW disk

but I need Nero 6 I think as Nero 5 wont see the dam thing.
