dust filters

Hi,

I've installed a 120mm Noctua NF-S12B FLX 1200 RPM fan for the intake that supplys mainly the graphics cards. The Case is an Antec P183. It has indervidual doors for each fan with solid dust filters, designed into the door. Its like a plastic mesh, quite effective and it restrics alot of air.

I want to put an aftermarket filter in its place. I've seen soft motor vehicle like air filter material at PC retailers and I don't know what to get. I haven't searched much. If you can please recommend a suitable filter with minimum air flow restriction for this low speed Noctua fan.

I can clean it easily every day.

I'm thinking remove the Antec filter door, secure a custom filter to a big mesh or something, cut to squeeze into the case door area for a snug fit.

Thanks

That's the major problem with filters, the better they are the more they restrict airflow, but the good thing is that low need Noctuas are designed to pull air through high resistances. In regards to fan filters have you look at the DEMCi Flex Fan Fliters?

no, I'll look now. I can remove the filter from the door and tac/glue a new one

Edit: Thanks Zeals, good stuff there. I need the filter only without a frame.

my dust filters get really dirty and need to be cleaned about once every two weeks.

if they didn't get 'white' they wouldn't be doing their job

DIY filters made from stockings?

*Warning*

The clerk at the store may give you an awkward stare.

Stockings ehh?... I think wwwillllll seek out some for fine screen, low restriction, and easy to tweak dust filtering. Buying stockings can't that big a jump to me buying elastic hair bands, right?

So want to run the case fans at good old sub-1000RPM before I recently tried 12mm open cell foam as filters.

Just a few side notes:

Black stockings definitely look the best. Also fishnet stockings don't work too well.

Also make sure you stretch the stockings reasonable amount to get better airflow. You can try breathing through them or something.

Steves link. I went there, clicked on the Aquafilter at the bottom and it always brings me to this page. ?

I wont use the magnetic filter things because my case has doors for each fan wich looks best and I don't want to squash one in-between
