Dunno wot happened tonight

Just had a hell of a scrap with my Win98 Penty III rig.

Around 8:00pm tonight, black screen, monitor went into standby briefly, windows reappeared in 16 colours 640x480

. The mouse pointer had disappeared so rebooted into safe mode, couldn't uninstall the nVidia drivers, so resorted to Driver Cleaner, re-booted, still at 640x480 16 colours So I tried to re-install the nVidia drivers but was still no good, they kept saying "No nVidia chipset found on system" . I scanned it, yelled at it, but still no good. In the end I thought "sod it, and re-installed Windows" No idea what went wrong. Gremlins, me thinks.

Either that or I'm gettin like my old dad. He only has to look at a PC and it goes tango uniform.

kinda similar to a problem i had for ages and ages and ages

but yeah windows blows most of the time

Just finished installing the rest of the drivers, just got sound card to go now.

I seem to remember having to do an install at least 3 times in a row just to get the machine to run stable.

stick linux on i tbh, id hate to run 98

I'd love to give Linux a bash, but I'm completely stuffed when it comes to installing drivers, and my BT Voyager 105 modem don't work under Linux. So far things have been ok.
