Dual view issue with 163.69 drivers

Has anyone got a probelm with dual view on the latest drivers? I have a 8800 gts but with new drivers every time I change to clone or single monitor or independent views the primary resolution defaults to 1280x800 which my monitor doesn't support. And because I cant see the control panel I can switch resolutions. It so dumb and annoying that it switches from the resolution its was monitor was already set at for no reason. Anyone else notice or have problems with this?

Sounds like it`s settings are all over the shop. It should technically only use reses ur monitor(s) support (unless u`ve unticked the box for that).

I`d be tempted to uninstall the drivers, do a DriverCleanerPro thingy, then re-apply the drivers.

If I`m having `problems` I tend to install the drivers to another folder. "NVidia2" or something.

Yeah I'll try using driver cleaner maybe. I should have mentioned i'm using vista 32 so I don't think custom res is possible at the moment. I have found one other guy who mentioned same probelm with new drivers changing to low res every time he switched between monitor setups. I set up profiles with the correct res but even when I load them it just resorts back to this 1280x800 res. system restored back to old drivers and they work fine. But I wont want to be limited to them forever! Thanks for replies.

I`d check for the newest verion of DriverCleanerPro cos the last time I used it it left things behind for nVidia drivers that were pretty crucial to driver removal.

right, i got round to uninstalling again and using driver cleaner but it still has the same problem. With new drivers I cant make any change to the display configuration or it defaults the primary monitor to 1280x800 resolution also the option to resize the hdtv desktop seems to have gone. this has happened with last 2 or three sets of drivers for me. Is hdtv resize missing for everyone on vista or just me? I found someone else who had the problem with the desktop resizing to 800x600 whenever he changed the multiple monitor config in control panel but he had no solution either. Windows extends the desktop fine without changing the rez to anything unexpected on the primary but now that hdtv resize is gone my 720p doesnt fit quite right on my tv!

forgot to add, where can i get supprt for this? would i need to go to BFG who made my card? I cant find anywhere to contact Nivida about support.

by nview profiles do you mean the profiles in the nvidia control panel? If yes then no, before this problem i did not ever try to use them I just changed to clone or extended desktop manually in the control panel.
