I'd get the ASUS 7800GT dual and then upgrade my MOBO to the gigabyte quad royale which would allow you to run 2 dual GPU cards in sli (when drivers are released in January)

The GT's run cooler, quieter and overclock nicely - neck and neck performance and GT is cheaper to buy.

But the prospect of running 4GPU's in one rig is a very enticing subject indeed.

Good question - the short answer is good - the long answer is it will get better with age (only just released!!) Gigabyte have learned a lot from there 1st SLI MOBO and mistakes of old have been rectified (with the exception of voltages to suit BH5 overclocking).

But for out and out overclocking performance the DFI SLI DR reigns supreme.

IMO, id just get one high end card. Wait for 512mb GTX, and see how it does. it it beats the 1800XT, go for it. SLI, and Crossfire really aren't worth it, especially Crossfire, at this early stage, and SLI only supports a handful of games, and some don't have that bigger improvments. Thats why i think 4 GPU's, it going to be retarded. it will be about as efficient as a fish on a bike.

SLI is a good investment - all the new games support it and that is what it is all about....... with new driver updates itwill only get better.

Sure the Quad Royal will not be as efficient but who cares, we are extremeprometeia!!

I am not saying one GTX is enough, heck if you can only run at 1280x1024 a GT is good enough - but for 1600x1200 goodness with total eye candy SLI is a great investment.
