hey guys

i'm trying to play DTS encoded audio disk via my PC to my amp which can decode DTS natively..........however....all i seem to be getting is a really annoying white noise hiss...........any ideas?

i'm using winamp.....tried using a coupla ac3/dts codecs.....nothing.....i'm stumped.

Is it just this particular disk or do other disks not work either? (like DTS encoded movies)

What kind of cable are you using between the PC and amp?

Can you see a 'digital pass-through' option (or something similar) in any of the options menus?

i use a SPDIF digi coax cable from the PC to the Amp, i personally don't THINK i've tried a dts encoded movie disk, however all of the 5.1 movies i've played on my pc thus far have worked flawlessly...

Ah ok, I was just wondering if the problem lay with the connection or the software.

Is WinampAC3 one of the Winamp plugins you've tried? Looks like it can passthrough DTS over SPDIF from an AudioCD.

You probably want to make sure any DSP/Effects are turned off incase they are trying to process the DTS stream. If still no joy, you might need to enable 'digital output' (or something like that) in your soundcard control panel. Apart from that I'm outta ideas. :)

even tried the winampac3.......i've come to the conclusion of a) i'm just doomed. and/or b) my onboard DFI karajan audio doesn't support the DTS frequency i'm trying to play.
