downgraded fx-55

right received my ram, cpu and psu today.

searched the stepping codes for my amd64 3500+ and it turns out its a fx-55 with lower clock speeds and half the on die cache...wooo hooo. been in other forums just searching about and the same cpu as mine aswell as others.. cna reach 2.89 ghz on stock cooling ! with out breaking a sweat... i cant wait to get my case, graphics and case because ill be up all nite oc'in im going to be a happy chappy!

no im not trying to persuade xms to trade his setup for my samsung d500! all i want him to do is buy the a64 cooling block coz i paid nearly £340 for the phone and its only 4days old....

its clawhammer stepping codes are

ada3500dep4as caa2c

the caa2c apears on fx-55 cpus. not only that on another forum a bloke had exactlly the same steepping code its a clawhammer core- fx-55 core half the on die cache and only 2.2ghz until i get my crazy oc'in hans on it ha ha ha ha

OK - was just wondering why Winchesters were mentioned! So you got a clawhammer with half the cache disabled....oh man if only you could enable caches?!!

rip of the IHS and get out the silver paint and the AMD enginers guide book then it could be a possibility...lol, tho the fact its a 3500+ means either1/2 the cache failed or (big if) there was not enuff demand fot fx-55 chips and it was moved to the 3500+ range (unlikley as there are not enuff fx chuips and they would mark it as a 4000+ if this were true)

i dnt think intel will make better cpu's i camt member whos got it in there sig but i agree dell is the only thing keeping them alive... its not about pure ghz any more its what the processer can do.. my dad a pc programer owns his own buissness ive tried to convert him to amd but wont as intel are gud cpus for wat he does...where as i dnt think they touch amd for gaming which is wat i do alot of..

where as amd wouldnt be able to do the professionall work a intel can so each have there pros and cons but i like amd and i think i will for a long time unless intell can design a processer that is good for gaming.. im sticking with amd!

they do design a good processor its their current mobiles v v good performance Per clock cycle

the old dothan usta be able to beat most of the A64 s when given a decent bus speeds and a clock of round 2.4; if they gave that a 800 FSB and a desktop board AMD would crap emselves
