Hi guys,

I'm thinkin bout buying a Pentium-M 730 1.6Ghz 2Mb Cache (533FSB) Dothan and clocking the nuts off it. Want to do this on air but need to know what the best board for doing this on is.

Also, are these chips any good for gaming? And how fast are they when clocked? I don't wanna go spending money on my new setup to find it's actually slower than my 2500+ @ 2.3Ghz which is pretty nippy.

I also want to bench this like mad :D

Tell me how it is guys.

Cheers

A Dothan clocked nicely will completey blow away a 2500XP, hell there supposed to be faster than A64's clock for clock.

Id still a get an Athlon 64 though, better all round chip, and better chipset.

Dothans have the potential to be great - they are let down by poor motherboards or requireing an interface card to become an overlcokers dream.

Shigs has had some good experiences with his so we know they can do well.

For right now - you'd be better buying a A64, dual core probably fi you want a bit of future proofing and a few tasty improvements when gaming online.

The X2 doesn't yet does it?

I have just ordered a Dothan/ Sonoma, planning to put it under phase for 24/7 use :D

I'm using the ASUS CT-479 and P4C800-E Deluxe, but you have a range of boards to choose from. There is loads of info on this subject on XS, which is where I have learnt about it.

The Dothan at 4GHz is currently urinating upon all processors is it not?! :D

As far as i remember from what i have read they are meant to get high fps in games be generally be slower in everything else. I could be worng but also think that a athlon 64 clocked up is a much better all around option.
