What is the difference between say the Xpertvision 8800GTS 320MB and the XFX 8800GTS 320MB on special tech because its a £20 difference. ?? Seems abit hefty are you just playing for the name?

Yep... its all about the name matey! :)

Im sure they are both pretty good!

If the clocks are the same then yep it's simply branding. Sometimes the XFX cards have a black PCB....not really worth £20 though is it.

However if it's the "XXX" Edition with higher clocked stream processors and clock-speed it would be worth it

Thats it lol.. so it they aint made of cheaper parts or anything?? seems abit silly. lol.. i suppose Xpertvision dont have any overheads

I think the 8800's are made in the same factory and distributed to the different company's. XFX tend to have the cherry picked GPU's tho

yeh i guessed lol.. im thinkin £177 looks like a good deal for the XFX one on scan.co.uk

Might have to get myself one when i manage to shift my 7950gt XT.. Im gonna advertise it on this site just waiting till i have enough time to drop and email etc.

Correct. Foxconn is the global manufacturer of Nvidia graphics cards. They manufacture them, and then distribute them to X companies (XFX, Evga, BFG etc...). Then those companies make their own little modifications to them (Overclock them, change the cooler etc...)

Certain companies get the pick of the best silicon - XFX, OCZ, Gainward, EVGA etc - there's a pecking order

I only said "think" cause I didn't wanna shout my mouth off ;)

this can be done for free tho..

You cant clock stream processors yourself, only the core. And with them OCed it make a fair difference.

Stream processors are automatically OC'd by a preset ratio as you OC the processor... Or so I hear...

So no, there is no app to do this independently... Dare I say yet!

you can overclock the shaders , core and ram

The XFX XXX edition is factory over clocked and it has the double lifetime warranty. Can't beat that.

black PCB is hot.

Nothing tis common knowledge :p

@Mr Smith: I've OC'd two cards to the same clock speeds but the XFX still wins out - not sure how much the card clocks them up?

EVGA are also good cards indeed :)
