Are you on Xp or vista?

Have you tried... (XP instructions)

right-click my computer, choose manage

click device manager

find device missing driver, right-click, choose properties

click driver tab, click update driver

"no, not this time"..

"install from specific location"..

browse for temp directory (when it recognises a driver file it will enable the ok button - from memory)

I got 1 installed in 1 of the pcs @ home.

U get pains trying any kind of drivers other than ones for the card. Windows indentifies it as something like a Realtek xxx..xx.xx whatever, and this can lead to yellow exclaimation marks on the driver list or it won`t appear in the list - only to be found somewhere down the pc-connection tree.

When I get home I`ll check the filename of the drivers - even so tho, I`m sure the ones from a downloadable source should work ok.

Its down as "Simple PCI communications device" or similiar

I'll take a try at what you said ;) but it sounds similiar to one of the many ways i tried it earlier :p

It still cannot find the correct driver when searching the place ive unzipped to. =/ argh?

Any ideas? :(

Maybe it's not the card you think it is.. or something.

or maybe its just crapped out =/ could do with the original install cd or iso as it doesnt seem to be installing the drivers end of...but ye - could just get a new nic or something - ill keep messing with it :)

Most Network cards closley follow the ref designs of the chip manufacturer

look @ the card, find the chip name/model go to Chip manu web page and get their driver ......

this driver will have greater tolerances to hardware differences than the D-link 1 (it has to support a lot of diff PCI Ids)

it cld b a failed card

Meh, what I got is the DLink DGE-530T. 10/100/1000 GigaExpress

The page for the 530 TX+ is here 10/100 http://www.dlink.com/products/support.asp?pid=122&sec=0#drivers

If u can`t install this, it`s possible the conflict is on the "+" version of the card. Non "+" `may` need a different driver set and may well need hunting down cos it`s older.

(there`s also a pic of the nic on the site, if u`rs varies u could have a hybrid of kinds)

Drivers are meant to contain a testing util, that installs if u use the automatic install approach. I just do drivers only so can`t comment on that.
