Dell Can't Make Laptops?

Damn, only had my laptop overheat once, that was after it had been playing COD4 for 10 hours or so.

Have they actually put fans in?

I think the processor is passively cooled to be honest xD.

It has an intake on the right and an exhaust on the left, I don't know where the third is though. All fans were running at full speed.

EDIT: I also have a brand new 3 year next day on site warranty for it, which is at least something good.

hm, i think there cooling just isnt adequat on some models.. and yes i spelt adequat wrong i believe.

Does cracking open a laptop void the warranty? I might just see if it's clogged with dust or something.

I forgot to add; when just browsing the internet with the CPU more or less idle it runs around 60-70.

Sheesh, that`s barely running 2ghz.

I`d be thinking partially unseated sink.

Very supprized the auto shutdown isn`t around 85 degrees too.

my tosh u300 has the 2.2ghz c2d, that runs fine. I used to love dells, but have seem to swung to toshiba lately. Ofcourse this comment, doesnt help you at all!

Taking a laptop to bits will void the warrenty, to get dust ect out of the heat sinks i used use a can of compressed air and blow it out. Not sure if it helped or not.

That's FAR too hot. Is it in warranty?

My Dell here gets nowhere near that

Perhaps get some compressed air and see how much dust is in there if not?

It's about 1 year old and came with a collect and return 1 year but I recently renewed (as in 2 weeks ago) with a 3 year on site for only £100. What do you reccommend I do other than try and get some dust out?

Agreed. Explain the situation and say you're not happy. Moan like hell if they get annoying and they'll pick it up and look at it

sounds like the normal dell thing, get some as5 and when the engineer comes out to check it, make sure he checks the TIM, and get him to replace it with the AS5 :) The amount of laptops we have sent back due to either missing TIM or too little is amazing.
