Decent video editing software ?

Dicehunter

Resident Newb
For some odd reason windows movie maker saves my videos with the audio completely out of sync once edited.

Is there a good editor out there that doesn't cost a testicle for basic editing that has the same functionality as WMM ?

I used to be quite into this and unfortunately didn't really find anything that was decent enough other than WMM. So therefore I got Sony Vegas Pro 10 :p

If you have a copy of FRAPS you can open your footage in WMP or VLC and re-record the footage with FRAPS. It locks the Framerate and the audio should stay synced up. I was getting audio drift when using an Avermedia HD live gamer to record video game footage and then try and edit it in Adobe Premier Pro. I found by opening what I recorded in windows media player and then recording that footage with FRAPS, everything stayed synced up.

If you need a software just to fix the desync without any/many other features then you can use VLC to find by how much you need to offset the sound (shortcuts J/K i think) and then load the file in MKVToolNix and set that offset permanently.
Example here http://www.hecticgeek.com/2013/11/fix-audio-delays-vlc-mkvtoolnix/

Just tried this and it works for a few seconds but when playing other parts of the video are out of sync -_-

Shame really as I was going to do a play through of the first Crysis for a friend of mine who's never played it and is saving up for a decent rig.

Ah, the infamous different desync for every minute in the video.

Have you already recorder the whole play though? otherwise it wouldn't be worth it to go throw every minute of the video and resync, replaying the game would be easier tbh.

I've replayed a few times but each time it goes through WMM it de-syncs the audio, All I want to do is do slow fade ins/outs and trim the videos, 1080P 60FPS, Really nothing fancy ^_^

I can vouch for Sony vegas pro :)

You might be able to answer this question then :)

Would there be a lot of difference between a video at 20,000 kbps and a video at 50,000 kbps and would it be worth it ?

I ask as the video that Shadowplay records is at 50,000 kbps so would it best to render at the same bit rate or does it not really matter beyond a certain point ?

Well I'm not expert on it, but the higher number you have is obviously better.

But what are you really asking for here, the picture quality or the sound quality related to those numbers?...

Picture quality mainly, I have sound quality down for the moment.

I mean would it make sense to keep the same bit rate as when the video was recorded ?

Umm basically yes it would.... but you can also customize your own profile, so you actually render in the same quality, but at lower settings so to speak.

But if you ask me, I would personally go for the same bitrate, just to be on the safe side. And then for another time, I would save the same project in the respective bitrate and see if the quality actually changes or not :)

The options of Sony Vegas are basically endless mate :)
