Dead Island on PC

I was thinking about buying DI on Steam. I played it on PS3 and was having fun, despite its flaws (no story, iffy collision detection). Is it worth it $49.99? I have a lowly HD4250 that I plan to upgrade to either a 560 Ti or a 570. I got to replace my stupid Xbox b/c it finally RROD on me. (I only play Gears 3, Rock Band 1&2). If it's not worth it, I'll forgo the GPU and DI in favor of a new Xbox and Ninja Gaiden Black. I was playing NG Sigma before DI and loved it (on Hard)

In my opinion not worth it at all. I bought it on day 1 and it was O.K for a while, but I quickly got bored of it and stopped playing it. If you have friends who play the game, then playing co-op with them will be more fun. I have only played it a few times as I just couldn't get into it and now I can't start the game, because of a recent update. The game has been riddled with bugs and other problems from the start and from my experiences I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I'm waiting until it goes on a huge steam sale. When it's $10 or $15 I'll pick it up.

Wait for a deal and buy with some friends, I played DI co-op and it was usually a laugh. But we were laughing at how bad the game was

If you want a PC game atm, get Saints row 3. I picked it up pretty cheap and playing it in co-op is a lot of fun.

Dead Island is incredibly bad, I mean soooo bad its nearly as poo as Duke Nukem Forever. I have played about 2 hours on it, its boring, repetitive and short. I found myself getting bored of killing zombies, I just ran past them all and did the dreadfully generic missions. The only good thing about it is co-op as it adds some speed to the thing, you can just power through the missions and mess around, but in single-player it is just plain dull. A masdive waste of £35 i bought it for off Steam on launch day. I haven't touched it since day 1 when it was release. Don't even get me started on the bugs and overheating GPU, the card worked way more than it needed to and ramped up the fans so they sounded like a plane taking off. I'm sure they've ironed it out, but there are much, much better games out there.

Its is an average game... nothing too special.

The fun really starts when you have 3 friends playing coop with you. It's a completely new experience. I bought it day 1 for Steam... and besides the HUGE issue with a port being released instead of the final game... it was an awesome game. I tired quickly though... and then moved on to coop where I played for weeks.

I would wait for a Steam discount or download it... elsewhere... to see if you like it first.

I played a couple hours on PS3. I thought it was OK. The fact that it was basically Borderlands (damn numbers coming off of enemies) with zombies with combat from Dead Rising (same weapon crafting too) kinda put me off. I felt the tone was way off too. It couldn't decide if it was a survival-horror or action RPG. If I was to buy the game, I'd need a new GPU too. I think I'll get a used Xbox 360 and Ninja Gaiden Black instead. IMO, DI needs more influence from the Condemned series.

It's a shame really, they had massive hype coming off that CGI trailer, but the game fell a little... flat.

i've just been given this as an early xmas prezzie from a friend and played about 20mins, i can't help feel the graphics needed to be a bit better

but that might be because i've been playing battlefield lol

other than it seems ok but nothing special... plus it doesn't like to work in nvidia surround

BF3 looks incredible. DI...not so much (only in comparison, they actually are above average). I read a whole bunch on enthusiast level issues (no SLI support, single monitor only) in addition to all the game's flaws, but can't help to think that this game is salvageable. If only I had access to the game code (unless it's as managed as the game was).
