Dead Hard Disk

Alas, my old PC's (AMD 4000+, 7800GTX etc.) hard disk has kicked the bucket. It's not quite dead, just about to die, with massive corruption across the windows system files.

I ran chkdsk and it came up with about 600 errors. So I am having to reinstall windows. On the plus side I have just purchased a brand new western digital 320GB, single platter HD. Even though I have a velociraptor and a spinpoint (F1) 1TB disk on a better computer, I cannot believe the speed of this one. It must be pretty close to the raptor, and it only cost £38. Granted its not going to be as fast as the raptor, or have as much space as a spinpoint, but for the price, and the performance it shows it seems pretty amazing.

Yea you really cannot beat that hard drive for the price,I was thinking of picking up another drive soon and maybe that will be the one or something close too it.

I've been a little afraid to go with something 1TB+ as they are still rather new and I don't wanna end up with a lemon with all my stuff on it :)

I've always liked Western Digitals products, they're always quality. Although I have a Seagate 80GB HDD in my PC, I have a Western Digital 640GB External HDD, and it is very fast.
