Dan's Watercooled P180

I posted a picture of my rig when I first signed up here, but as it's had new hardware in it (and slightly improved cable management), I thought I'd make a new thread to pimp it out some more (and that way I can add to it easily if I make any future changes).

So here's my rig:

I'd have loved to get the inside of this case powdercoated black, but if I did that, I'd want the outside done too, and as it'd be so much work I may as well start again on a new case!

Specs available on request (but they aren't anything special :P )

Looks very tidy to me dude. Theres alot of plastic on the P180's so Id forget the external powder idea.

Internals are possible, case is steel, I even have a powdered white chassis in the shed :p

@Brooksie: :D

Specs are:

- E8400

- Asus P5Q3 Deluxe wifi@n

- 2GB 1800mhz CL7 DDR3

- 2x WD640GB in Raid-0

- Sapphire HD4850

- PCP&C 610W Silencer

@tinytomlogan:

I've often found myself toying with the idea of getting a gunmetal P182 for the black outside, and then doing the black inside (hence my whole other case comment), but I hadn't thought about the plastic being a problem for making the outside black, so I guess that really does solidify my need for a new case if I want to do anything more major to it.

I've really got an urge to go with some better watercooling now though, I have a GTZ sat here on my desk, but I don't know if I would be happy with just sticking it in my current setup, and am thinking of ways of stashing better gear in my case. I haven't been able to come up with any that I'm happy with (I don't want the watercooling to be external), and my latest idea is to put a TFC Quad Rad down in the front of a Thermaltake Spedo (which I already own and has my 'backup' rig in). I'd loose all 5.25" bays, but I've found a slot loading Slim SATA drive that I think I can mod into the case to fit somewhere else. Only issue I have with that is parts of the Spedo feel tacky and it's not exactly built for quietness (something I love about the P180).

(this is a long post >_<)

Tt cases should be avoided imho, as should the over hyped over priced feser sh*t

If I can help with anything dude dont be affraid to ask.

Well I got the TT for free, so I'm not really complaining too much about it :P

(I wouldn't have bought it if I hadn't got it free :p )

And while the Feser stuff is overpriced, you can't argue with results, and the Feser wins for temps at low CFM cooling (which I want to do).

I'll keep your sevices in mind when I get round to kitting out a new case, the water jet cutting might be something I have use for at some point. :cool:

Actualy the feser doesnt come anywhere near winning mate.

Thermochill always has been the best, still is.

Ill never buy feser as for 56quid the thermo whooops it

Thermochill have to be akward with there slightly different mounting holes though, that is what puts me off. (Saying that, only 1 out of 3 rads I use are actually "Mounted" anywhere...)

Got any direct comparisons between the two? I've tried looking but can't find any. I've found pressure drop graphs, but no actual temp results.

I've exhausted rad placement options in the P180, and there just isn't enough room, so I was looking at if I could get a P190, but I don't want their stupid dual PSU setup, and because of them all coming with dual PSUs, they're all ridiculously expensive, so that's out of the question.

So I'm back to thinking I'm going to be using a TFC quad in my Spedo now, and as Thermochill don't do 480mm rad's, it's quite an easy decision :P

Mate you dont need a 480.... I had my old system (heaven & Hell) on 1 thermo pa120.3 you talk to any serious watercooler and they all choose thermos mate.

All of my rigs are thermo and I always recomend them to my customers aswell, for cool and quiet you just cant get better.
