Ok so i've just bought a mobo off ebay, and it has damage on the 8Pin connector, i will post pictures later this evening but basically the pins are fine but the plastic around it is destroyed. Would it be possible to replace the 8Pin socket or will be forced to get another mobo. It's a Crosshair IV for all of those who want to know.

I think all in all if the pins are OK your fine but try to find a way for your plug to stay there and not bend the pins on the board, how much did you pay ? did you know it was like this before you got it, and I think this is just a for now board when the new z77 pick one up !

I only paid £45 it was sold as Spares or Repairs "Untested", i tested it myself today and it works fine, just the socket is bugging me, the pins are fine and if i can find a way of keeping all 8 pins in without bending them, then i will be fine

And yeah, i'm not doing a full system upgrade until Haswell comes out so this is for the next year or so.

If the 8pin falls out while doing a task I am pretty sure that will fry your motherboard/cpu. So you do have quite a risk.
